It's a Pace RS 500 spec item.
It replaced a bespoke chargecooler and high capacity reservoir on Ian's car.
Now Ian wouldn't have done so unless it was more effective. Also happens to cost £300 as opposed to £600 for a chargecooler.
I guess it depends whether you're prepared to sacrifice standard looks for the upmost functionality.
The bonnet catch has gone, bonnet now held with pins.
Rad fan removed and two smaller motorbike units now situated on the reverse side.
You'll also need custom piping to plumb it all in.

Greg - who said Pace intercoolers were crap?!! I've had several intercoolers/chargecoolers from them and they've all been excellent, plus their service is second to none!!
Intercoolers are great at high speed, when some are arguably better than chargecoolers, but the latter maintain a more consistant, cooler charge air temperature. I've got a custom Pace chargecooler on my FRST with twin cooling rads and a huge water tank and it works a treat, keeping the temperatures down even on the hottest day
You can always build your own chargecooler mind. Mike Gurney's done this, and several of the RSOC BB posters (Steven RW I think), plus it would be worth talking to Mike Rainbird on there. All excellent sources of knowledge!

JJ,
It was certain people from the RSOC BB that said and quote, "Pace are poop"
I got informed that their i/c core is not very good. They could be speaking from ERST experience.
I was hoping the FRST i/c was better
The set up you have looks good
Adrian,
I'm not too bothered about loosing the standard look, but i dont like the idea of pins through my bonnet
cheers

Greg,
Well, to be perfectly blunt, some of the RSOC BB posters are a little too scathing at times - a bespoke gold-plated McLaren-made intercooler wouldn't be good enough for some of them I've found Pace an excellent company to deal with, and they possess that very rare trait of actually listening to, and responding promptly to, customer feedback!
Case in point, I had a std chargecooler off them. It was superb until it developed an internal leak. They replaced it Free Of Charge and upgraded the water pump. That then gave up after a year, with the same fault. It was only the 2nd in the country to fail! However, they then offered to take the car into their workshop, build me a bespoke new chargecooler (as per pic) and also develop the boot mounted tank with twin pre-rads, with no labour costs at all!
I also got a ERST 100% bigger intercooler for my mate's FRST. It didn't
fit too well, but once I'd called them up, they fixed that FOC as well! Can't really say fairer than that eh?
Pace work on all manner of mad cars, race teams. The only problem they suffer is that they rarely see "real cars" except for producing a jig for a product the first time. But, at least they listen to their customers!!!

Greg - harsh but fair (re. my quote) People on here are far more friendly!! I've always found the RSOC a little hostile/elitest unless you either have a Cossie or Mk2 RS2000 *LOL*
I saw a post on there today with StevenRW slating Pace's RS500 intercooler. Most on there recommended "Behr"??? Nowt wrong with Pace's FRST stuff in my humble opinion
BTW, be sure to speak to Wayne @ Pace for the best price. Tell him I sent you (and mention the spec of my chargecooler) and you should get a nice little discount

Stu, Pace are on 01284 850960.
James, Behr made the core on the original RS 500 intercooler (and the 4x4 ones I think).
The Behr core intercooler is superior to the Pace ones, but carries a price premium, £500 for them as opposed to £300 for the Pace.
This is all for Cosworth releated though, I think the Pace items for the RST are fine.
