Performance cam for a 2i

Postby Tom SX on Fri Nov 22, 2002 12:42 am

after a performance cam for my 2i, looking at the kent ones on fiesta centre.

cvh22k (full kit inc spings, followers and cam)

Most popular Fiesta/Escort cam ever. 12-14 bhp improvement with no fitting complications. Excellent standing start acceleration. Will work very well with our Ashley competition exhaust systems. Power Band 2000>6500 rpm. Valve Lift .437" inlet / exh. Duration 274 inlet / exh

£185.00 not inc vat

cvh32k (full kit inc spings, followers and cam)

The ultimate in simple fit injection cams. Excellent tick over with great mid-range acceleration. 10 bhp increase over standard cam. Power Band 1000>6500 rpm. Valve Lift .448" inlet / exh. Duration 280 inlet/273 exh

£181.25 not inc vat

What does everyone recommend cam wise. I'm after a full kit like these Kent ones. Know that pipercross are another manufacturer.

I'm after a mild cam as its a day to day car, so these are the sort i'm looking at, obv u only get about half the power they quote but anything is a good start.

BUT WHAT DO I GO FOR?

thats the idea so far but at the beggining of my research, don't want to sped £200 and find out i should of bought something else :O

i've always heard the kent ones were good for ford and AFAIK the puma racing site says the 22 is probably best for road use.

any other thoughts? :-?

cars being built atm.

pipercross induction kit.
standard exhaust and manifold for the time being (i.e. for about 3 months till i can afford a full mongoose/scorpion/magnex manifold back system.

want to go some way into the tuning but not big valve heads and such malarky.

lol, you`ll get 5-8bhp from a cam and you`ll need a vernier to dial it in right, i`ll post later what cam i think u should get, but i think the 22k is aimed at carbed engines... might get more if u add better zorst/manifold etc but this is llike knock on effect as zorst will add more anyway, but normally get 5-8 bhp from cam alone.

cvh cams are pretty much tossed by 60000k, they last from 40-60k

the 22 based for carbs, would you recomend getting the 32 then shnaakey :-?

as for getting your own one ground up, sounds cheap as chips but surely you need a standard £150 ford one to start on first :-?
