Postby EssexRedFRST on Thu Jan 16, 2003 9:17 pm

Which way do i go? KENT or PIPPER?
I'm running 186BHP on a chip, hybrid turbo (14 psi) and uprated fuel pump.
Any suggestions welcome

I would have thought to have that much power, you would have a cam in there now.

first, what head work have you had done to the engine??

also, what turbo u running? T2 or T3?

secondly, you should have had a cam in there to have this sort of power as i dont think its possible to get 186bhp with out one!!!

i know andy was only running this sor of power on his engine with a t3 running the same sort of boost, chip cam and low comp bottom end!

From the "hybrid" comment I reckon he must be on a T2. That poor cam! I think he might change it just before the current one lifts up its skirt and runs away, crying!!

As words from Ian Howel.. the best CVH Turbo Cam is ...

.. Standard..

My old FRST managed 192 with standard cam and Ahmed Bayjoo chip,

The different cams are only increasing power at 1 point generally, they sacrifice lower revs and instead of being steady power up revs its low and suddenly raises and peaks slightly higher for a little bit then drops again..

Standard cam is smooth and torqy.. Much better

IanFRST.....

I disagree, but it also depends on the cam. I have a mild Kent cam and my power curve is nice and smooth all the way up with no peaks or dips.
I also disagree with Ian Howell, i think a cam would help. I would rather put in a "performance" cam than a std.

Head work and a cam makes a difference, even if running a std T2.

cheers :)

urm doubt the pwer readings u have with the mods u have done, for a start the injectors will be maxed out, at that bhp u will not have the fueling required at top end using blues. T2 will be on its limits, and prone top cracking badly cos of the heat build up as they are too restrictive to produce power above 170bhp, but anyway, belows a graph of previous time it was mapped using kent 35k cam, with alot of other mods..
