Phase 1 ZS: Nothing exciting but...
Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
I might just have to buy those slim line nuts from eBay. Try them out. Fingers crossed!

Get the door hinges greased and keep greasing them, they are known for getting stiff then snapping off my old zs did this.i lowered mine and had no problems getting them off, part from two bolts that had been rounded off.

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
Are those slim line nuts really safe to use? They designed for spacers not to keep a alloy on?

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
If they are designed to keep a spacer on which will be under more pressure than the wheel would be, then they should be ok, as long as the tapered edge is the same as ford wheel nuts

Just get longer studs takes 15 minutes to do. The zetec s has very short studs. When I put a zetec s beam on my rs I couldn't get my wheel on at all

Another problem with this car already, seems like its falling apart in my hands.
This decided to fall in my footwell when I was driving...
Brake plug? No... My brake lights are working fine. Unsure what it is.

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
Yeah, looks like the clutch switch to me.
Should sit in the same sort of place as the brake switch, but over the clutch pedal!
Don't know if that clip is broken or not though?

What does it do? Will it effect my car long term? It's annoying. I hope the wire hasn't snapped. Couldn't check in the dark.
Cheers guys.

Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
I think it's got something to do with adjusting the engine speed when you put your foot on the clutch pedal

I think the same as the sheriff.
Won't cause major issues, maybe a funny idle here or there.

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
When this happened to my mates mk6 his clutch went really heavy. Its the switch which turns the hydraulics on I think. The part clips up to the clutch pedal. If you get upside down and look up at the pedal you will see where it goes. Its a £9 something part from fords or be pikey like I was and accidently put one in your pocket up the scrap yard

that doesnt sound likely, all the clutch hydraulics are mechanically operated, no electric assistance

Yeah, the clutch switch wont 'turn on' the hydraulics.

other cars such as the mk3 do fine without "altering the revs" during a gearchange, cant see why this car would be effected no

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
I've decided I'm not coming to FITP. I don't think the car will be suitable before that time, got a lot of repairs to be done before I start tarting her up. I had another go at the top mounts today, can't get them loose. I'm gonna round them off if I'm not too careful, and with this BS with longer wheel studs just to fit my Borbets on is a ball ache. Man it's never easy!

It's the hours I do though too... Late week 100+ and early about 60-80 hours. Sometimes hard to find time! Suppose I've gotta make time.

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
You're such a woman.
What does it need? Coilovers and wheels?
Grab yourself some of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksi ... &_from=R40
and get it sorted! No more than a weekend's work there to be honest, and we've got 10 weekends before FITP

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
I am admittedly. You wouldn't know what the standard stud length is would you? Dunno what size I should buy so the alloys can fit.
Plus, how do you fit them?

Re: Phase 1 ZS: Wheel Issues
uum im sure mst n ebay state them as say "+20mm" r even 10
lemme ask you, d you plan to run big spacers? anything from 10-20mm?
if you are go for +20 or 25mm studs s you have room to fit them in the future
but i think i remember reading that your having clearance issue on your nuts, s your gnna have to take that into account
fitting them can be bit f a pain, but straight forward, just use a mallet t knock the old ones out, take the drums ff and pace it on a block of wood on the floor, and knock the studs down, the front hubs are a bit annoying because of the clearance, so you have knock one ut at a time, in the gap between the caliper mounting holes after you remove the caliper itself, then spin the hub for the next one
refitting them just hammer them in untill theyre flush, when fitting the wheels ver tighten them by say 20lbs, and after 2 days retighten them again, and check them in another week, as the blts get pulled through completely flush and it makes your nuts loose, it happend to me driving home from work, cluink clunk clunk, had t pull ver to tighten them lol, so check them!

Re: Phase 1 ZS: ST Brakes
Hi guys,
It's been a while since I've posted. Still have the ZS, the same as she was really. The brakes are thin as anything now though and the discs are worn to fook! So perfect time to fit some ST discs and pads.
Just want some confirmation on this, it's just simply buy the ST discs, get some decent pads fit them and job done? Straight fitment? No agg? No trouble?
I'll just get discs for the front, won't bother with rear disc conversion.
Let me know guys as I know a few people that have done this on here. Just want to know a bit more on it.
James
