Pics wanted of different Intercooler / chargecooler setups
I am considering an intercooler / chargecooler change on my t3 converted FRST. The room in front of the bumper shouldn't be the problem (wanting to fit a MK5 zetec-s item)
Does anyone have some nice clear pictures of their upgrade ?? (preferably with name/supplier of the inter/charge cooler)
thanx again ..
cause over here in holland they don't 'know' anything about fiesta tuning..
just escort )-:

how did the hosing get fixed ??

I sold the bumper back to who I bought it off. You'll see it re-appear in a few months on his car
The cooler isn't piped up yet, I don't have the T2 any more, I did the T3 conversion but I don't have that any more either.
The photo of the car with no bumper has the T2 on and the standard intercooler still connected behind the big cooler. It was driveable like this.
The photo with the bumper on is when the car had the T3. There was no clearance for the radiator and fans, so in this phot the car actually has no radiator. I drove it off my drive and on to the road without one!
Not the best thing to do, but for only 10 seconds it should be fine.

Not very practical then Ade
I'm thinking of changing for a Alu rad and adding a GRS chargecooler along with the original pace intercooler
Should keep things cool. Mean's relocating the battery first though :/
bcracknell your setup is wicked. However doesnt having the intercooler in front of the radiator severly restrict the available airflow and cos it too heat up rather hot?
Also it's hard to tell from the pics, but do you have 2 kenlow fans between the two?

Stoned - yes mate it is.
Craig - the chargecooler reservoir should be the highest point in the system, like in any cooling loop. In that pic it isnt, and will be reducing the cooling efficency of that setup by a noticeable amount mate.

Do you find the chargecooler on it's own worked well enough Excursion or do you reckon u need a intercooler/chargecooler combo to get the best of both worlds?
Sorry for the questions but the chargecooler idea has interested me for a while now but not many people have them and opinions vary greatly

I'm only running 14PSI mate, which isnt really taxing this setup greatly.
The general consensus seems to be that the standard aftermarket chargecoolers are better than the intercoolers - but not as good as a full width I/C.
I was running this C/C in tandem with a standard I/C but found for my modest boost it was an unnesecary complication.
The C/C I have is 3 normal cores in one, plus a much larger tank. I'd say it's on a par, if not better, than a full width I/C. The only downside is they are pretty expensive.

it's not too bad, the airflow to the rad is not affected that much. on a run the coolant temps are well at the bottom of NORM (between the R & M usually)
the only problem I have is that I only have one 10" Kenlowe infront of the I/c (recomended by Kenlowe) but this doesn't blow enough air through as it's not powerful enough to keep the car from overheating on a hot day.
I'm getting 2 x 10" PACET fans to replace it with shortly.
need to move the Rad & I/C forward slightly too so theres a bigger gap between turbo and rad but all in all the setup works great.
best charge temps I've had were 29 degrees C on a moderatly warm day. there around 35-50 in this really hot weather.

just realised how old some of those pics are, the last ones are the latest (the CC track photos) the others are different stages of development with 2 fans, 1 in between and then 1 in front....forgot how many times I'd changed it. wish I'd left it how it was first time

mite post some pics up if i can find em, i run modded pace charger and standard intercooler, 0.9bar 196bhp temp followed ambient temps, never saw it rise above 36oC, its bein modded further to run higher boost, best thing about em is it doesn`t peak, it gives constant temps to the inlet, normal temps are 25-30oC in summer , winter i get condensation all over it

OKE!!! thanx.. all of you ..
my FRST engine is back in .. the T3 conversion is nearly finished (the air-filter hose has still to be fit properly)
just 1,5 weeks to get all set up for the trip across to England (to visit Ford Fair)
so if all goes well i'll be there with my violet fester (-:
