Piggy back chip?

Postby adi_gz on Sat Jun 05, 2004 12:56 am

Iv seen these things on ebay called piggy back chips for bout 20squid. All they do is sit on one of d sensors n tell d ecu dat d air coming in is a different temp to [ERRR] it actually is giving at d most 20bhp!! Sounds to good to be true, anyone got one or heard of it??

Also do boost valves make much of a difference? Sum1's told me there pants but lots of modders av got 1?

Cheers

£20 for a piggy back chip ..... if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Sounds like a load of rubbish to me.

If your asking about FSE "power boost valves" for a FRST then yes, they are a waste of time as the FRST comes with an adjustable fuel regulator anyway
Greg : Owner of a FRST for 14yrs

1990 FRST : Sold.

My friend brought one of these chips off e-bay and his ecu ended up being replaced because of it. I wouldnt touch one if you paid me. Stay well clear mate!

I bet its 1 of those resistors u put on that tells the ECU that the coolant is colder than it is, or tells the ECU that the air is denser than it is. Either way it causes bore wash etc due to causing it to over fuel.

Also can fcuk up Lambda sensor and the cat, which are quite expensive to replace.
