Pioneer Champion or HCCA?

Postby milky bar kidd on Thu Nov 20, 2008 11:21 pm

Hey guys im new to this so hi to everyone

iv got a system but am upgrading the subwoofer, i want to keep it to 1 12inch sub but am confused. i currently running 1 12inch sony xplod, 4 components that are amped, 3.0 farad power cap.
So options i have are a HCCA or pioneer champion (3000watt one) currently my whole set up is pioneer instead of the sub and amp powering it.
so my question is which one and why?
also what else will i need to change to power them if anything?

cheers

neither...there is much better for the money out there...

what amp is it you have and what power does it do at what ohms? What are the electrical upgrades on the car?

where are you based? you might want to have a listen to a few setups before deciding...

Both the pioneer and HCCA sound gash...you probably dont know this but i was sponsered by orion for ages and ran them in my car but walked away from the deal after realised a few things about their amps and subs...hence NEVER going anywhere near them again...

For the same money...you can get a 12 which sounds SOOOO SOOOO SOOOO much better and cleaner no matter what the volume...The HCCA will just boom boom boom and you WILL get a headache with it...other brands, allow you to be more flexible...offering clean gorgeous sounding bass no matter whether the volume is low or screaming loud!

The other thing i mentioned was power supply...to get the HCCA running right...you will need a MINIMUM of around 1500-1800wrms...even then they dont go loud...give them the rated 2.5k...and they burn LOL! great sub hey! However, to get the stated 2kwrms of power...you need ALOT of power upgrades..TB3...multiple batteries...1/0g cabling throughout...then the by-products....lots of sound deadening...midrange to keep up with the bass...etc etc

If your interested in seeing what the likes of brands that i deal with like FI and Ascendant Audio are capable of...let me know and ill post up some videos and clips

hey bass boy

thank you for your input it is much appreciated.

at moment i havent got any electrical upgrades accept the sound upgrades.

i may not have mentioned it before but everything in the car is pioneer accept the amp that is powering the sub, it is a 2channel amp that runs at 950w at 2ohms.

and yes if you could please recommend something as i do want a bit deeper bass and so i can turn up my speakers a bit more because i feel when i turn the up the volume the sub starts to distort a bit and it loses that deep bass sound.

do you own a shop or sell goods if so where are you located or where can i get the stuff you recommend.

Hi mate,

Before you go mad spending money on big subs and amps etc...get the power supply sorted...if you dont, its a sure way to blowing up amps and subs and worst case...causing a fire!

The minimum i would be looking at if you are staying at 950wrms, would be;

TB3
bigger alt
bigger battery in the front
and something like a yellow top battery in the boot (although these are poor for big power, they will be ok at your power levels)

If you do want to go the full hog and go 2k+, then same as above but something like an Oddyssey PC2150 or a Powermaster D2400 which will p 2k wrms all day...to get 2k for everyday booming becomes expensive...e.g the Powermaster D2400 is £400 alone! but i run this in my car and it honestly piddles over every other battery i have ever used!

Im located in west london...how about yourself? i dont own a shop at the moment..currently working from home but its no hassle as i can demo away no problems...check out my website http://www.teamspb.co.uk under products to see what brands i deal with (not all listed currently but site is a WIP)

whats your budget? are you going to change the amp?

im located in northwest london my budget was about £400 - £500. the amp i got is 950w peak not rms.

i looked at your site and the ascendant audio stuff looks quite powerful and looks like it could take a pounding.

i didnt want to change to much as i am not planning to use car for shows just for my own use but loud enough that people can hear when im driving down street.

what would you recommend?

what are the chances you can stretch more towards 6-700? reason i ask i have some ex demo goods for sale...top of the range AA Mayhem and a D5000amp...2.5kwrms and it POUNDS!

Normal selling prices everywhere are £410 for the sub and £400 for amp...£810 altogether...ill do a deal at £650 for both...some pics...and video clips

and some videos from the SINGLE 12!

let me know what you think...if you dont want to go that far (you will need to upgrade your battery eventually and put a split charge system in)...you can always go for something like the arsenal range which will take 500wrms all day long...even 700-800wrms as long as its clean power..that sub will be cheap and the money you save, put into a custom box ;) it makes ALL the difference

no problem...drop me an email on support@teamspb.co.uk and ill get some prices across to you...but by the looks of things...the AA Chaos/FI SSD (exactly the same speaker just with different logo's on) will be ideal for you...800wrms, 22mm xmax from memory...i didnt an install with one not so long ago in a Celica and the customer reckons its practically as loud as his RE MX15 i did for him running off less than half the power!! shows how good these subs really are!
