I've been questioning everyone I know (Ford specialists wannabe) about this. It seems that no one knows.

I read an aged CCC that Dr Dave Walker was testing on a ERST one new (at the time) cam from piper. No specs from the cam because it was classified, but the test showed that the peak power was achived at higher rpm.
More power yes, but was made from higher boost.

anyone?

I've read in a few places that the piper 285 T2 give you an extra 26bhp how much truth there is in it I'm not sure :-?

26bhp!! I think that was Pipers own advertising.

how much power u get from a cam is like asking how long is a piece of string..............

each engine is different so one engine you might get so much with another u might get loads of power. Your engine's age, use and spec all come into the equation.

Well that applies to every mod though.
Im pretty sure 20BHP is the MAX increase u can get over using a standard cam however the more boost u run the more increase in BHP the cam will provide.
Eg. Running standard boost with a Piper cam may give it an extra 5-7BHP whereas some1 running 15psi may c over 15BHP extra due to the cam being designed for this boost whereas the standard cam isn't.
Just IMO, feel free to correct me if u know different. :Q

Boost is key! :D

May be lucky to c an increase of 10BHP if u keep the same boost pressure me thinks.
Ur leads & plugs will only improve reliability not performance.
Read the tuning guide on this site's main page.

Id say chip it with a SS xorst & IK on original cam first. Then ud be at 160BHP for the same money. :D
Obviously if u can afford it do everything! Mint intercooler, 701 injectors, performance cam, bayjoo chip, etc.

My WRC twin core alloy intercooler (welded by pro-drive) came in the post today! :D

Any stage1 chip will supply the correct fuel 4 upto 12psi m8.
A better alloy intercooler will cool the higher inlet charge. Hav u read the tuning guide? It's worth reading up on it all to get a better understanding.

Im lucky in having m8s that hav turbos and can ask them questions on everything plus a mechanic who is a Ford specialist round r way.
Order a FRST catalogue from Ian @ Racetek: http://www.racetek.uk.com/
Phone him.
That catalogue can explain a lot about tuning although he doesn't mention the fact that u NEED bigger injectors to run high BHP often. Any questions on buying these parts, jus ask him. Hope that helps.
