Please can someone explain how power boost valves work

Postby S2 on Mon Mar 24, 2003 11:16 am

my engine is having work done to it and it has been suggested that i buy a power boost valve to help the performance. i dont have a clue how these work and what the benefits from using them are.

also would they work well with a swirl pot which will most probably be going on the car?

thanks

Power boost valves replace the standard fuel pressure valve that regulates the fuel pressure to the injectors. The power boost valve will allow greater fuel pressure through than the standard item (perhaps around one and a half times the amount you were getting), so you will get better throttle response and acceleration.

This for a Series II ? you dont get power boost valves for MFi as you dont have a fuel rail and injectors. I think your tuner or who ever has been telling you porkies.

cheers :)

They do actually claim that you wont use more fuel (unless you have a lead right foot) and the pressure is 1.7 times greater. (just bought one so I read the box)

From what i rad they dont increase the pressure the system runs at. when engine is bieng run has one pressure. Then has a lower pressure for when engine is idling. Then when ya put ya foot down the pressure comes back up to the standard. The boost valve just brings the pressure back up faster than a standard item.

Power boost valves increase fuel pressure.

i dunno maybe i reading it wrong. but thats how it seems to me.
just says brings pressure back up at 1.7 times normal rate how can a valve increase the pressure of the injectors. Surely only way to do that through uprated pump.

The fuel pressure regulator DOES control the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and injectors.
The FRST already has an adjustable regulator, so you do NOT need a FSE valve.
The FSE valve is set to increase the fuel pressure by 1.7 and cannot be adjusted which is not good if you increase your boost pressure.

Save your cash for something u will actually need.

cheers :)
