Popping/Cracking right side speakers

Postby Fez4MJ on Sun Jul 01, 2007 4:09 pm

Hey all, having an annoying problem with speakers.

It isnt a Fiesta though, more a shoddy french piece of work they call a Saxo  .

Basically, its my girlfriend's car and she just has a JVC headunit, with new 13's in the door and 6x9's on the parcel shelf.

When the car is started and driving, the front speaker keeps popping and dying over a certain volume (still pretty quiet) and the rear right 6x9 is fuzzy.

Thing is, when I switch the left wire from the left rear speaker and put it on the right speaker, the sound is fine, so seems like its just the right side wiring. Also, the 13's in the front were bought because of the problem (we thought the front speaker had blown), but the problem persists, just a loud pop and no sound after until the stereo is turned right down and up again.

No idea what to do, i've installed loads of speaker systems and have an amp+subby etc. in my Fiesta and no problems at all.

Any ideas? Thanks

Matt

i would change the speaker wires and try it then if not it could be a dodgy channel on the headunit.

Thanks for the replies :)

See the problem is, I wired into the factory wiring so that I didnt have to rewire the rear speakers to the headunit. I've done this before on another car and no problems, but on here seems the right side has gone funny.

I havent yet removed the stereo because she doesnt have the JVC stereo keys that came with it.

So you think it could possibly be a dodgy headunit? (opens up a possible gift idea :D).. She does go rely fast over bumps and stuff so maybe a loose connection.
