~nomad~ :oh those rear braces. Yes they make ever so much difference, even though there is no logical way they can!
I crashed my white one a week after fitting

Cool, cheers for those, Jony! Didn't realise how much the car still leans, even with the front set shocks rock solid. Something to look at for the future
Eventually got a clip of my 10:45 session uploaded. The door is so flappy that it's really hindered the quality, but I'll sort out a proper headrest mount soon!

Re: Popular Plus - 30/4/13 - Page 17 - On track at Castle Combe
I noticed it once on one of the sessions, so it's still there... I need to decide about a lot of things, so it's likely to be on the list! I really don't want to lose the wheels, so may be some better replacement calipers that will fit under the 14s will sort it. Still really needs a diff and I can start to see how the idea of some track tyres would be beneficial!
Really appreciate your comment, though, Mark! You know exactly how I felt at Silverstone and how I had no confidence in the car initially, and I am really pleased with how I've come on. I absolutely loved Combe this time round, and I'm starting to feel less apprehensive about going out on track and learning far more about what the car can do and what needs improving

Yeah definitely, you look at lot less nervous around other cars as well (which is useful at Combe).

I'll be at Mallory, it should be another good day. I probably owe you a passenger ride or something for stealing your car at Combe last year

Re: Popular Plus - 12/5/13 - Page 17 - Camera Mount!
Not really an update on the car, but something I was going to buy at Christmas and never got round to it... A headrest camera mount!
... except I haven't bought one, I made one instead
There's quite a few guides, but the one that mine most closely resembles is from this site:
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index ... ic=32929.0
It's my first attempt, but I've purchased enough of everything to make two. I'll do my second one at work so that everything is a bit neater and more professional! There's not a lot to it, but there doesn't need to be I took the car out down some pretty rough roads and pushed it hard and it did the job pretty well, I think! If I get round to it, I'll upload a video tomorrow
I went for 25mm tubing instead of the 20mm shown in the thread above so that my camera mount fitted more neatly and didn't overlap at all. At the moment I've just used some old fuel line for the u bolts to fit snug against the headrest posts, but I'd quite like to make something more professional at some point... They do the job perfectly, though! The only other real difference is I used an old bike inner tube to cover the mount! Was a bit of a random solution... I couldn't find any spray adhesive to apply any rubber pads (or similar) where the headrest posts would sit against the mount, so having just replaced an inner tube on my mum's bike today(!), I decided to steal the old one and see how well it fitted; to my surprise, snugly

Re: Popular Plus - 12/5/13 - Page 17 - Camera Mount!
Cheers, ladies!
As I say, far from perfect, but works well! The mount that I purchased could be better, but I have another design in the post so I shall see what that's like. It's only that the current one 'can' be moved with a bit of effort, but while driving down some pretty harsh roads, it never budged!
I may make my own at work, something far more robust and lockable, just to do the job properly
