Porting and Polishing the 1.1 ?

Postby DorsetZS on Sun Jul 28, 2002 1:21 pm

I know you all will say this ent werth it, but its got very low mileage (16K) and its immaculate and the bodywerk is coming along, Ive got K'N bolt on and SS cat back powerflow exhaust. And I would like to keep it for another year, and now I'm werking puttin sum money into it. Its just that I remeber seeing a 1.1 with over 100bhp, and wudnt mind a bit more out of mine !

So the qwestions are :

1. What can I do, port, polish, gas flow, bigger bores ?
2. Some definitions of what these are, as I know the names but not what is really involved ?
3. How much is this likeley to set me back, I dont mind spending around £400/500 ?
4. And what will these individual things give me power wise

Spend the money on a dirty great Sub...

Just think in a year when your low milage fiesta is for sale... you dont want that to be ruined by hacking it up.... :aaah:

You know it makes sense.

frasiers engine is only 70bhp and he knows the owners of specialised engine !

if u wanted the same u will need to have arround £300 to have the treatment he has had !

Poting and polishing requires the engine to be removed cleaned taken apart and sorted on a f**k off machine !

u can buy a scrapped 2i for £3000 and put the whole lot in !

WHY oh WHY do u lot want to do all this to a 1.1 ????? it aint gonna go anywhere. a K&N costs £50 doesnt do anything apart from sound nice and make ure carb freeze up in the winter at the end of the day doods u own a 1.1 as it cheap and insuranc friendly

it is that for a reason its slow

Fiesta boy likes his speed but he likes his wallet more and has gone from a 2i engine to a 1.1 hcs.

Its a big fat trade off fellas but engine work on a HCS it wold cost u a fortune to pay someone to remove and refit the engine.
