power cable for amp

Postby chrome247 on Sun Sep 02, 2007 3:40 pm

I'm having serious difficulty finding a place to put my power cable through from the engine bay to the left hand side of the interior. I would try and search the forums but i keeps on coming up no matches. WTF!
I have a 1.1 mk3.5 any ideas.

If you have a carburettor version then there should be a plastic blanking plate on the right hand side of the bulkhead. This is where the ecu's are fitted on injection cars, drill a hole through that. Failing that you could run the cable across the engine bay and put it through the main bulkhead grommet behind the expansion tank.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Ollys second option would work fine, route the cable through the existing cable tidies in the engine bay , remove the plastic trim down the side of the car (passenger side) to the boot.

Try this...

As you are looking at the engine bay from the front of the car (facing the back of the car) look to the far right corner of the car, behind the bulkhead (metal strip). You will see a gap which is usually full of leaves. Shove your hand into the gap and prod the bottom, you will find a rubber grommet. Poke a screwdriver into it to create a hole and poke the power cable through the hole and keep feeding the cable through. When you've poked through about a meter or so, go into the car, look at the passenger footwell behind the dash and you should see/feel the power cable come through.

Next unclip the interior trim along the passenger side of the car. You should have a screw at the front, four clips in a 5dr car or three in a 3dr car, and a screw at the back. Put a flat blade screwdriver under the trim and lever upwards to release the clips inside (after removing the top ones), and gently take out the trim. Underneath you will see lots of cables going through lots more clips. Run the power cable through these clips to the boot, replace the trim, and bobs your uncle. Just remember to remove your fuse until everything has been connected up in the boot. It's the same procedure for the RCA cables, but on the drivers side. When mounting this keep the cable away from the pedals!!

If you need any help let me know!
