i wd say first concentrate on handeling first so lower it so u can go faster into corners more stable and better brakes so u can stay on the gas for longer other than that bita head work and a mild cam depends on how far u wanna go with it really
u got knocked the f**k out!!!!!!!!!

I got a cheap and crude Ashley manifold and system for my old 2i, and even tho the engine was old it really freed up the top end breathing, found out later that 6.5K on the tacho is not a good idea.

Bought a FRST, its faster but not cheap

Really really really prepared to go all the way?

Sell it.

1. Buy an RS... turbo cvh - pttssssh!

2. Buy a 1.8 zetec 2i and get the mondeo TB/ECU mod done. 130hp (or so), loads more torque, 8 more valves, smoother, etc. etc.

3. Buy an Si and get a 2 litre mondy transplanted in. Several of the guys off the forum will transplant a 2 litre into an Si or 16v2i for about £1000.

CVH is a reliable enough old donk but the key word is old. Shove a filter on if you must (probably make bugger all extra power but there we go) and a big exhaust but it won't be cheap to get a N/A CVH to make any decent power. It'll never make over 160 whatever you spend on it, and you'll have to get it almost completely rebuilt to get there - so you might as well get a 2L zetec. Or spend some cash on a decent turbo car.
Nige

'94 mondeo. Pass the mortgage, son.

Hmm... what... eh?

k&n
Exhaust
super chip
kent cams
power pulley
skimming the head
port and Polish the head
may b boring the head out
racing fuel pump
racing clutch
quick shift
bigger throttle body

this shoud make the car faster and increase bhp, but will set you back loads.

the most u can mod a xr2i 1.6 8v cvh that i have ever heard about and read is 135 bhp! and they did all those mods.

i have done all that expect throttle body and chiping it, and i got 120bhp @ wheels!

df908 is chating sense,if u want power and dont want to spend loads get frst, i have had myn for 3yrs now and want to get a frst, but i dont regret anything it was fun, up 2 u thou !

Most I have ever seen was 166bhp at flywheel but that was a 1660 racing engine, PFDave's solid lifter unit was 155bhp.
Both these cars ran on twin sidedraft webers.

There are better options out there.
