Wheels will be different next year - if they look as good as I think they will then it should look sweet for FITP 2005 :D

Yeah - I am going to do just as you said Tom, I'll have to grab those photos off of you at some point over MSN or something :)

S1 - I'll take some more detailed pictures tomorrow, I'm in the middle of rebuilding this home PC at the moment!

Cheers,

heeman, its tapered to keep airflow using all the core segments, the drop in section will speed the airflow up and encourage it to use the farther tubes. 8)

EDIT: just been informed you probably know how a tapered plenum works, and you meant the connecting ring. Sorry heeman, i don't think you're that stupid, honest!

Hey guys,

Been a bit slow with working on the car as I've been working on home/business and social sides to my life over the past month!

My mate Simon came round to have a look to see if there are any potential pitfalls in the bits I have bought to finish the car off.

As far as we can see the XR2i radiator is actually going to help with clearance from the T3 turbo and also allow for more space between the intercooler and rad - meaning that the Spal fan should slot between the 2 quite nicely :D

I'm going to stick on the proper Weber Marelli 3 bar MAP sensor tomorrow and see if that cures the lumpy running of the car once it gets up to normal operating temperature (the Cossie management kit that I bought came with a crumby aftermarket 3 bar MAP sensor that is no good to man nor beast).

Sooo - things look set for the car being finished on the mechanical side of things within the next week and a half, I better get onto Grove Garage to get it booked in for mapping :)

Just thought I'd let you guys know!

Cheers,

Andy

P.S. No pics as of yet as not alot's been done - but I'll post them up as soon as we have some progress :D

I'm guessing the SPAL figures are out by a factor of 10. There are spelling mistakes on Pro Alloy's website (eg diamiter for all the fans!) so it wouldn't surprise me if something got copied down incorrectly.

Oh, and I'm sure you knew really that the reason for use over standard FRST fan is lack of space, just not got your thinking cap on :)

Andy, before you start to fit it up did you get the T2 kit or the T3, as they don't supply the T3 one unless you ask for it.
All it is is a couple of shorter alloy pipes so that the intercooler flows bottom to top instead of the other way round.
They will swap the pipes if you ask and they are looking for someone who has fitted it to a T3 car for photo purposes.
You still need to sort out the hosing from the turbo to the intercooler alloy pipe tho' it isn't included.
Hope this helps, I've got one you see...

Hey Stu,

Long time no speak!

I told them about the fact that I was running a T3 and so they supplied me with the different pipes (well I think they just supply you with less pipes as you don't need the big alloy crossover one - shame as I was hoping to eGay that off! ) but I'm going to see if I can keep the flow pattern being inlet top to outlet bottom as that is the best flow arrangement for cooling and minimising pressure drop.

We'll have to see how it all goes, expect to see posts of me moaning on here about all the ballache this job causes!

Cheers for the heads up mate :)

Its a really simple fitment, hats off to them that designed it.
After the hassle I had trying to fit the GRS which I gave up on due to it needing the towing eye removed, and would have sat 2inches proud of the underside of the car.
I had my car dyno'd at 240bhp, it would have gone more but I have pegged the boost back due to injector limitations (which you ain't got) and Con rod limitations (240's their limit even with ARP rod bolts)
Glad to see you are finally out the doldrums and getting the car sorted.

how did you manage to use the xr2i radiator in there

im doing this conversion to an xr2i and would prefer to keep the rad because of its size :) although i have bought a 2nd hand FRST one
