problem with my fiesta rs turbo until its warm?

Problem or technical question?

problem with my fiesta rs turbo until its warm?

Postby rob pace on Fri Feb 07, 2014 5:29 pm

right i start it up when its cold and it splutters like its running on 3 cylinders for the first 5 minutes or so, after that the problem clears and runs / drives perfect. any ideas what this could be? HT leads are new, sparks are new, temp sender on the rear of the inlet is new!

possible coilpack problem but as said its only when cold, after 5 minutes it idles fine! map sensor? :)

had this exact same problem with a 51 plate focus 1.6 zetec
leaking injector kept weeping onto the piston
then when u start it - it delayed starting straight away and mis fired until fuel cleared.

do a drip test on all for injectors with ignition on

Take the fuel rail off complete with all
injectors fitted and everything plugged in , get 4 clear cups and place them under Injectors now turn on ignition so the pump builds up some back pressure in the rail and then just wait for a while

A leaking injector will obviously be visible now in your cups mate and jobs a Goodun , please don't do it whilst car is hot aswell or you may end up with a frst BBQ

And see you got same response on pf as here then lol

Anyway hope it helps mate , its usually common especially with diesels for a leaky injector to cause a misfire on startup and/or smoke a little

Agree to the drip test.I would also suggest to do an ultrasonic cleaning, especially if you haven't done it before.I had some problems with idleing, and did a cleaning.Usually they measure the injected volume in different RPM's from each injector,in an emulating machine, outside the car,if there is a deviation from what it should inject at the first place, dismantle them, replace prefilters,o-rings,ultasonic clean them and reassemble them with new parts. It fixed my idle and also helped a bit with consumption, especially on part throttle,I noticed it from the A/F gauge I have installed.I had to set it up again after cleaning.Regarding coolant sensor,ECU reads only the inlet manifold sensor, this is from what regulates mixture. The other coolant sensor, which is in front beside the exhaust manifold,is just for the gauge,it is not connected to anything else.

your use of English grammar is terrible, it was worse when running with your coil which was so piss poorly wrapped in the first place. Yes i did have a moan about sending it back for the £10 or whatever i paid, it would cost me about £3-4 in petrol to get to the PO and about £6 to send the bloody thing back as it weighs a lot.

come and get the coil when you want the UK spec lights, but you have pissed me about more times than i have had hot dinners about collecting them! lastly go through the ebay messages, at what point did i refuse to send it back?? all i moaned about is that it would cost me more to get it back to you and i never heard a reply after that?

Did you sort this problem out? As frsjon said try coolant temp sensor more than likely that (on top of the thermostat)

Just got mine out today and it's started doing that exact problem, so I will give a new coil pack a whirl, was just about to buy some new leads but will try that first
