not to cause offence in any which way, but why did you want to have a rev limiter and LC?
didnt realise you'd be interested in that
i like the back end, id recomment some orange ford logos for the mud flaps

Re: My First Car! (UPDATED)
Ok So... I Was Parked In Sainsburys Car Park Chilling Until Some Cops Pulled Up Beside Me And Asked, "Hi There Could You Follow Us To The Police Station, We Are Doing Some Quick MOT Tests" So I Said "Ok Yeh Sure", I Then Got To The Station And Saw Some Other Girls That Have Been Pulled Over Too, I Parked Up And The VOSA Was There, So This Guy Checks Everything On My Car And Here's What Was Wrong With The Car Written On The Paper I Recieved...
PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT OPERATE, ON AT LEAST TWO WHEELS NEARSIDE, AXLE 2 (Which Is Fair Enough I Understand That)
ANTI LOCK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT SEQUENCE, INOPERATIVE
EXHAUST SILENCER MODIFIED, AND DOES NOT REDUCE THE NOISE EMITTED TO A REASONABLE LEVEL, REAR SILENCER BOX REPLACED WITH STRAIGHT THROUGH REAR BOX (He Said It Was To Loud To Be Fitted To A Fiesta, But It's No Different To The Standard One I Had On Before)
My Paper Says...
"I Hereby Prohibit All Driving And Towing Of This Vehicle On Public Roads. This Prohition Comes Into Force On 28.05.2012 At 19:24 And It Will Stay In Force Until It Is Removed By Prior Appointment At Any MOT Vehicle Testing Station Authorised To Test This Class Of Vehicle"
So My Car Has Been TAKEN OFF THE ROAD Because Off This Until I Rebook A New MOT And Get Them All Sorted!!!

jobs worth c**ts
i know for a fact there is no set loudness for a exhaust as i spoke to VOSA last year when my RS was refused a MOT due to the exhaust, and they didnt even have a meter to check the amount of noise anyway! its down to the MOT testers discretion they kept telling me, when i called the mot place, they bonced the blaim back to VOSA but there is no set limit.
the brake and warning light, yeah well i guess so, the warning light is a 'one of them' things but the parking brake...
so what was the score, you could take it home but that was it, or you had to leave it there and have it recovered??

Have you been driving around making it pop and bang due to the rev limiter, or anything like that? Police will put a mark on you for that kind of thing and will keep on pulling you.
This is all very big brother though. Maybe the girl racing sticker bothers them or something, but I wouldn't say your car is OTT! This kind of thing really annoys me, as there 1) plenty of illegal immigrants driving with no license at all, and b ) plenty of UK residents people driving around with no Tax or Insurance.

Re: My First Car! (MY CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THE ROAD VIA COPS)
This is all a bit rubbish isnt it? So its been issued with a prohibition notice then, do you have to get it MOT'd then take it to a VOSA station to let them look at it too?
The issue they have found with the handbrake (assuming they didnt have a rolling road to hand) is most likely to be the rear axle bushes knackered, if the handbrake holds fine
The lights on the dash, try putting the bulb back in, guessing the previous owner took it out as the light is on. Remove the sensors and give them a clean, but like jony says theres a common fault with the rear ones going wrong, but a new loom isnt too much
And the exhaust, lol, thats not a valid reason for prohibition. I once had an advisory on my rs1800 for 'exhaust is loud' which is all they can do, and no way is your exhaust loud, or straight through Wonder where they get these guys from
Could all be sorted in a weekend i guess, bit of a pain, but then at least its another 12 months MOT

Re: My First Car! (MY CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THE ROAD VIA COPS)
I'm more interested on why, if you were just parked in a car park, they picked you to go with them?
I've done operations like this in the past, and been told we can only pick cars that are on the road at the time - therefore not parked up.
Did they see you a) on the road perhaps bring attention to yourself or b) were you, by any chance, doing things in the car park you shouldn't?
Before you fly off the handle, I'm not accusing you of anything haha, just interested as to why you were chosen

Me too, to clarify Jess -I wasn't picking holes either, just a bit nervous about this whole thing and where it's going for all of us with modified cars.

It does seem a bit suspicious. If you were parked up sitting in a car park they wouldn't know that the exhaust was loud and wouldn't have any reason to take you elsewhere for a VOSA inspection, unless you've been spotted before and you have a marker on your registration number.

I think it was a vosa vehicle going around on the pull for what sounds like mostly modified cars. Jess' brother also got followed to a house before they asked him to follow them back! I should add though that the area is highly populated by chives and boi wonders.

Re: My First Car! (MY CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THE ROAD VIA COPS)
I remember years and years ago getting pulled over on the way out of South Mimms, along with every other modified car. The reason the gave orginally was it was a "random spot check" when I pointed out that pulling every single modified car and none of the standard ones, was not random I was told it was actually because they were clamping down on the Watford Cruise. I wasn't going to Watford, I was going to Southend. They wouldn't let me go though, and checked the car over with a fine tooth comb, while I stood there pointing out cars passing with dodgy looking tyres, bits hanging off, lights not working. Even spotted one with an out of date tax disc, they were not interested
