Just read through the whole thread! Thought I might as well learn some history of it since I've started to get used to seeing it around. See it again in March I hope!

As said earlier in the thread, best black XR2i around, probably the best XR2i I've seen unless I remember another

Re: Project DTR * Winter Update *

Postby TIL13R on Thu Jan 31, 2008 1:44 am

Well it has been a very long cold and horrible winter and a few changes have had to happen to DTR

First of all with the weather been as wet as it has been i started to notice the drivers side rear footwell was getting a it damp so best and only way to find out was to rip the carpet up and out!.....

:D

but..... it didnt find much luck im affraid :( these were my findings...

Image

not good at all but have got some contacts and also dad used to work down local bodyshop so off we went to mend dtr's holes....

Image

Image

Image

tools used :)

Image

Well with all the prep work done it was rust killed and sprayed over untill i can get the rust chopped out and new plate welded in :)

Whilst on the stripping out side of things i decided to finally get rid of the nasty horrible dynomat

this was boot before......

Image

and now with a clean up after :)

Image

Image

Also i have taken the spare wheel out too due to it having no use at all if i ever (touches wood) get a flat tyre on the front due to the Escort Cosworth Front brakes.. but.... i have picked up a spare Escort RS Turbo wheel that i will be mounting in the boot shortly....

Here are some random pictures on the dirty engine bay as it stands at the minute...

Image

Image

Image

And fianlly the major change for the winter periord is that of the wheels........ :o :o :o :o

i decided i didnt want to use the 3dr wheels over the winter to try and presurve them for the summer!

so i decided to go for.............

Graphite Grey Escort RS Turbo wheels...............

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

So whats people's views on the wheels then as they are growing on me!!!

Over the next few months i am going to be looking to.....

1. Put my guages in.
2. Relocate the battery to the boot.
3. Refurb my Coilovers and fit them.
4. Give the car a good detailing session.

Thanks for looking please feel free to comment as always

Cheers

ERST alloys are ugly at best but you've done them up alright and don't look out of place, but still, fugly things, especially compared to your 'summer' rims ;)

PUT THE 3DR WHEELS BACK ON!!

You appear to have the same rear strut brace as me!

I really need to get my wheels off the road seeing as it's meant to snow over the next few days!!

Obviously the 3dr wheels look a lot better, but i know why you've taken them off.

Roll on the summer! :)
