Project DTR - * Update 22.10.2014 *
Re: Project DTR * Winter Update *
TIL13R :Have you noticed any difference to the car with it fitted mate?
A massive difference! It came with 10mm long self tapper screws which lasted until the first corner and the heads sheered of two so I had to modify it by drilling the holes bigger, making a plate to go inside the suspension turrets and then using Stainless M8 nuts, washers and bolts to fit it.
You can see mine being refitting into YRN here, the board won't let me post the picture, so here's the link - about half way down page one.
yrn-vt151433/
I found it really tightened up the back end and it can now be thrown about without giving any consideration to the back braking away. Really was the best modification for handling along with the front ARB and crossmember.
If I get mine repaired for the shows, we have to park far away from each other, because they are so similar!
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

im not sure i like the s2 wheels, but at least they are only for the winter. i think theres something about black xr2i's and rust
the zetec s rear beam has drums iirc, its thicker or something so its stiffer than a mk3 beam. do you not have the arb on the back at the mo? mine doesnt have one

fitting another arb on the beam just upside down. stiffens up ze rear.
the zs beam is loads heavyer than the standard fez one, remember my old van? that had a zs beam, if you fit one, get spare bleed nipples first, the zs ones are made of fudge

good idea about the quikshift But why not get the 2i on a rolling road first find out how much power the 8 valver has really got! wanna get mine on a rolling road find out how close to 108bhp it is. I put a new cvh engine in it resently and its got so much more power than the old one had. scared to find out whats wrong with my original engine

Re: Project DTR * Winter Update *
Well With FITP just gone i thought i would better update this thread with all the work that has gone in with DTR in the winter months ready for show season....
Well for starters the weather hasnt been good to DTR at all and it was starting to go a bit rusty underneath so with the carpet all out we decided to attack alot of the waek spot with the nail gun just do see what needs wotk and what doesnt.....
After having the Drivers side done now it was time to turn the attention to passenger side... this was starting to go on the floor by the seat belt mounting point. So got the Air tools out and got car into place to start work....
First thing to do was to get it up in the air...... This is where Killer comes into play... Picture says it all...
Once up into the air it was time to asses the real damage and cut out all the bad rust to the good old metal...
Ouch.......... this was about 3pm Saturday afternoon i think it would be cutting it a bit fine for FITP.........
Well with a nice big hole in the floor i left my dad making up the bits to replace it and i thought i would give the wheels a clean and exhaust too....
Random pic of my 4 branch...
Cant beat a good bit of metal polish....
With the bits all made up it was time to tack the new plates in....
and then finally to weld the other plate to the floor from the top....
With all this in place it was time to tidy up the welds and make the car look smarter too..... Bring on the Angle grinder
With the welds nice and smooth with the help of the belt sander and few other special tools it was time to clean it up and give it a lick of paint and seam selant to prevent any more grot appering back and also got out the waxoil too to get alot of it down the sills and all the noocks and grannys....
Once all of this was done it was time to clean up and put seat back in and get home to try and wash the car ready for FITP
Here are the rough finshed pics untill i get all the seats out strip all the sound proofing off and spray the whole interior floor
So thats not the Floor of DTR solid now.... Time for a few new engine mods and styling things...
So time for a wash for FITP now...
Whilst DTR was getting a good wash and scrub.... this apperred.......
................. phone was soaked trying to get a pic of this....
Finally all dry and ready for FITP it was time to tuck her into bed......
Then Ready in the Morning.......
Now for some FITP pics....
Thanks For looking and feel free to comment........
