Hello all....
Well rather than just talking about it i have sold a few bits and bobs and had a bit of a saving winter so i have now just placed and order for a few genuine bits.
Rocker Cover gasket,
Timing belt bolts,
Sump gasket,
Oil Pump gasket,
Water pump and gasket,
Inlet Manifold gasket,
Thermostat
Spark Plugs
Oil filter
Head gasket
Head bolts
I have had a little bit of an issue with trying to find genuine oil pump tho....
Then it will be backed up with Pec Rods and Wossner pistons with ARP bolts, Newman cam and soild lifters.
Also i have got a new power output target of 250bhp... when management and injectors are decided.
Thats all for now...
Cheers

Hello all,
recieved a little parcel this morning from FordPartsUK.... Looking forward to opening later.
Also had a little bit of good news on the oil pump too, GS Motorsport had one in stock so i am getting that delievered in the next few days or so.... More good news is i found a company that can do me a baffled sump, A L Developments.
So fingers crossed over the next few weeks i will be getting the engine stripped and sent off to the machine shop so then i can get the pistons and rods ordered up. Then final stage is getting the newman cam.
Pics updated later on...
Cheers

Re: Project DTR * Build List 26.04 *
Loads of £££ in that lot
especially the head bolts
just a little note .... the oil filter you have is F1119421 EFL600 (long), but the Cvh filter should be a F1070523 EFL500 (short)

Re: Project DTR * Build List 26.04 *
always nice to get new bits
gotta ask though, and although what i say may come across as negitive, im not meaning it like that, just asking in general...., why buy ford parts?
motor craft plugs over NGK's??
payen make the gaskets for ford, and if you had got payen gaskets, it would of cost you about a over half the price you paid fords, and you can get a complete payen head set (not inc bolts) for about £45, the head gastet from fors is gotta be what, £60 on its own now days?
same with head bolts, all cvh bolts are the same, motor factor ones are just as good as the ones ford sell, but far cheaper
the water pump i can understand, a lot of people think ford parts like this are the best ones, but QH pump would of been just as good, but thats down to personal; choice i know.
as for the oil filter, although its the long one ment for a zetec, you can still use if on the cvh engine as theres enough room for it

A few good points there mate,
Reason for all of the genuine bits was looking back over a few big engine specs running 250bhp + and they all were built using genuine parts so that was the whole reason for going down that route for the rebuild... I know would be slightly more than patern parts.
Also with the plugs i had been informed that Christians 300bhp 1.6cvh was using them it must be good enough for mine....
Thats my thoughts anyway.
Cheers

Re: Project DTR * Build List 26.04 *
Update......
I have bloody found a genuine oil pump....!! MASSIVE THANKS to Graham @ http://www.gsmotorsportuk.co.uk So i now have that in the post to me. I have also found a company that can baffle my CVH sump thats Andrew @ http://www.aldevelopments.com. So that will be off in the post soon to get baffled...
I guess next on the list is to whip the old engine out and strip it down and see what i have got to play with... So fingers crossed that will be done in the next few weeks... Then off to the machine shop to be cleaned up and find out what size pistons im going to need...
In the meantime i have been saving the pennies (well actually silvers)..... Anyone fancy a guess how much is in here..??
Thats a golf ball so you get some size of bottle... 4.5 litre....
Cheers

Not enough for what you have got planned to spend on the car this year is my guess
I'm glad you're doing something with it now, it was a shame it just parked up in the garage.
I'll be at FITP so we'll have a catch up then
