Hello all,

Been a long time since i have updated this thread...

I have been spending a bit of £££

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

So now i have got all of these i have dropped it all off to the machine shop to get block honed for pistons and also fit rods...

Also while it was out decided to clean up the box and give it a lick of paint...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Hopefully get the block back and all bits ready to be built up over the next few weeks then get a few miles on it before the really bad weather sets in...

Cheers

Cheers Mark... I wouldnt think too long at all a few nights.... No real rush as still got to buy a clutch for it... Also because im running Tubular manifold need to come up with a few pipe's/hoses for the inlet side of things...

Should be fun when its done tho...

Hello all....

here is a long overdue update.....

I have stripped down the front part of the rollcage and had it painted...

Image

Image

Image

Image

And the colour i decided to go with to match my track wheels... Nissan White Cotton

Image

Getting all preped for the etch primer...

Image

Image

Now Painted

Image

Image

Image

Image

Also while paint was in the gun so to speak i decided on doing this too....

Image

Image

Painted...

Image

Image

Image

I guess only time will tell if that will be the right decision... lol

As you can see i have got the block, crank, pistons attached to rods

Image

It seems a shame to fit them to the engine they are a work of art...!!

So the bottom end light build up has started...

Fitted pistons and rods to block, also crank and main and big ends...

Image

Image

Image

Fitted with ARP Bolts...

Image

I have also brought some sealant to help the build along...

Image

Hopefully ensure of no leaks

Also on my ebay hunt i have come across the 1.8cvh Rocker cover with cap for 99p

Image

Another ebay buy has been the Cosworth rear exhaust housing .48 i need to use due to the slight relocation of my turbo with the tubular manifold.

Image

Hopefully look like this...

Image

Then just need somebody to make me a custom downpipe like so...

Image

So all in all its a step in the right direction..

Next month will be fitting all the oil pump, water pump, rear cover. Then will be onto the build of the head.

Thanks for looking please feel free to comment...

Cheers

UPDATE 05.02.2013

Its been far to long since i have have updated this... In that time i have done a little bit of the build. Alot of buying and some painting too...

Anyway i have finally finshed the bottom end. New rear cover gasket. Also got driveshaft seals..

Image

Also fitted gasket to the sump before fitting to the block.

Image

Image

Image

Finally fitted to the block

Image

Also brought a magnetic sump plug from Motorsport Developments

Image

Image

With the bottom end built it was time to fit the Phase 4 Newman Cam & Lifters. This was the most time consuming part of the build so far..

Image

Image

Image

Finally after a while all finished

Image

Well thats most of the build parts done.

I have brought a few more bits for the build.. AP Racing Clutch CP2000-35 to handle the power and torque..

Image

Airtec Stage 2 Rad

Image

Image

Image

Powerflex rear beam bushes

Image

OFAC Chip for St3 Turbo, beiges, st3 head etc @ 1.1bar from Gavstyli :D

Image

Also brought New t3 Oil feed, Clutch Cable & Powerflex front ARB bushes.

Image

Final part i have brought is heat paint designed for manifold not sure how well it will work but if not only cost me £26

Image

Final part of the past few months has been the parts i have had painted...

Gearbox cradle and mounts..

Image

Image

Image

Also finally got the rear part of my cage sand blasted...

Image

Image

Then after a rub down with 80grit ready to be primed

Image

Image

Then a 320 grit flat then top coat and lacquer..

Image

Image

Image

Brackets painted too...

Image

The last part i have had painted is the 1.8 CVH Rocker cover...

Image

Image

Hopefully in the next few weeks i will be getting the head on the block and inlet fitted and all in the engine bay. Then i can start to look to get the custom inlets hose from the intercooler to the inlet made and also the custom downpipe from the cosworth exhaust housing.

Thanks for looking

Well I didn't realise it had been so so long that I have been on the forum and also updated my thread on DTR....

A lot has happened in the time... Some good and some not so good....

Where to start I guess...

The head was finally finshed off

Image

It was then time to get the inlet and rocker cover all fitted with the genuine ford gaskets.

Also after the sump gasket had set it was time to fit that also to the block....

Image

Finally the head meets the block...

Next step was to get the engine and gearbox in... My dad seemed to think that we could fit the gearbox and engine together and fit it in one hit..... (didn't want to damage painted bay) I wasn't sure it would go in but....

Image

Image

Went in straight away no issues at all...!!! I was shocked... needed a few pairs of hands to guide it in and onto the gearbox cradle but it fitted like a glove...

Now the engine was in it was time to look at the manifold and the turbo side of things...

Finally got the Manifold painted...

Image

Image

Turbo fitted all up with exhaust housing...

Image

Once this was all fitted up it didn't quite all line up correct and would need a lot of tweeking about so that's going to be a job for once the car is run in and done a few more miles.... So its back to the Escort standard manifold and exhaust housing as I know that fitted well.

Next few jobs on the list was the mk5 escort brake servo that I brought this had already been modified to wanted to ensure that the strut brace cleared that and the bonnet also...

Image

Onto the new Airtec rad and Pro Alloy intercooler

Image

Next jobs to do was to fit all the Avos and finally get the car on its wheels...

Image

Image

Also notice the new daily in the background

Image

Now the car is on all 4 wheels it was time to jack it back up and fit the exhaust that I have been spending a few hours polishing up....

Image

Image

Image

Image

Well as the change of plans with the turbo I am going to revert back the the standard charge pipe set up and rocker cover, as normal its off to been painted...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Also the bank balance has been getting a little more of a hammering....

Massive thanks to Opie Oils....

Image

Roosemotorsport

Image

and of cause my local bodyshop :)

Image

Image

Image

Also Nomad racing

Image

Picked up these also...

Image

That's it for the pictures for the moment but the latest is I am waiting for some one off hoses for the Wilwoods... and the final little part is to change the route of the wiring for the starter and alt to run through the front crossmember to be further away from the heat..

Also need to fit and wire up the sandwich plate adapter to the gauges,

Fit and wire up the slim line fan

Then I am ready to fill up with fluids and then it should be ok for the 1st run of the engine...

Sorry for the long delay in an update...

Thanks for reading

Tiller :)

Well here is a quick update on DTR a lot has happened in the past months....

Next on the list was plumb in the oil catch tank...

Image

Image

With catch tank sorted it was time to turn my attention to replacing the old wires for the starter and Alt..

New wires made up..
Image

and fitted...

Image

Next was to install the Rad and wire up the fans.. Thanks to my mate...

Image

With the engine bay virtually done it was time to fit the exhaust up as it was looking all shiny and polished...

Image

Well with everything all plumbed in and with a fresh battery it was to finally turn the key.... On the button 1st time and run like a dream.... Was so happy all the work on the engine paid off...

So now I had a running engine it was to get the Wilwoods bled and the tracking all set up...

Image

Next on the list of jobs was to send it away to get the dash wiring all sorted as I had lost all dials and also needed the rear lights looking at and new gauges all installing also..

Well with the car all ready it was the final last checks before the MOT

Image

All checked over and ready for its MOT

Image

Also in the meantime of the last few months I have also made a few other purchases...

Image

Image

Image

Also

Image

Got news that the car passed its MOT.... Whhhooooooooo Finally after 5 years it was about to be road legal...

Straight down the Post Office to get the tax :)

So after a little drive went to go take the car back to the Garage where its kept to find this... mine is the White Garage.... A little close to home I feel....

Image

With the car legal it was time to dust DTR down and give the bodywork some love... A quick wash and polish (needs a good days worth to detail) I took its 1st photoshoot.. Here are the pics...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

and my favourite pic

That's looks gorgeous!! All that work has paid of ten fold , wheels suit it to a T IMO
Iv tried that bleed valve and tbh didn't think much of it, I know use a hawes device instead and seems much more accurate and boost kicks in harder earlier.. Just my opinion :)
