Thanks mate :)

It certianly has been but have bumped into new issues now tho... After all the hard work thats gone into it.. The fan switch plug seemed to have burnt out.. a common problem i know so brought a new one :o £51 :o

Wired that all up and nothing still not working... Out come the multi meter... had 12v going to the plug... Next step was test the power was going through the new plug maybe that was burnt out... tested the plug and not seeming to play ball so that was chopped out and tested the fan wired direct to the battery and worked... so thought we solved it... Nope...

Now have 12v going to the fans but still not working...

Tested and checked all the Fuses and they are all working... Totally stumped... Not sure if its an earthing issue or something else...

This was all the morning before the car was going down to Ahmed @ Grove Garage....

Totally gutted really thought it was time to use and enjoy the car :( :-?

Anyone had this issue or any ideas at all??

well if it was mine the first thing id do was loop a wire into the fan switch plug to see if the fan worked...if not id test the fans from the battery like you have..if they work its the wiring,if they didnt its the fans....so if the fans work and the wirigng has the voltage there then surely its the sensor?? or am i miles away ? lol

Correct we did that looped the fan switch, nothing still worked, strange. Tested Fans they work.

Looking a bit deeper into things last night checked the Fan switch itself to find that it was faulty it was tight in the thermostat but the actual plug was just turning..... Brilliant this was a brand new plug too..!! :x

Changed the switch for a new non faulty one...

My mate dropped down the fuse box and was looking through and found that the rear reverse light wasnt working and also this was linked to the fans too... Pulled the relay out and it was all melted over the connections which was a little worrying... Cleaned the pins off and plugs it back in..

Then looped the fan switch plug and finally found the issue the fans come on brilliant... So happy onto something here...

Started the car and got it upto temp and click the fans come on.... Result....

Think i am going to see if i can get a new relay as the other wasnt in best condition...

Now time to get booked back in at Grove... :)

Well took the car down to Grove for Ahmed to have a look around it. After a check over and a chat it seems the project is going to be taking another twist...

They way forward to get the most of the engine and mods that have been done is too go down the standalone management route, with different injectors and a Cosworth Fuel Pressure Regulator it should be a right little handful I have been told...

So back home I went to see what I can find and finish off the 1000 miles to run the car in...

Here are a few more pics when I went out for a little drive and photoshoot...

Firstly the Gauges

He just said something that's more mappable than the standard ford system, I said I knew of an omex system that was for sale cheap with a loom too..

So that's the route I took :)

Well it has been a whole show season since a update on this and so much has changed...

Where to start I guess.

Think I will work inside out well after having my bucket seats in my bedroom for a while thought it was time I should actually buy some runners and get them all fitted in... Was a fairly easy job to do just a little modding on the seat mounts to fit the fiesta runners...

Also it is a little tight fit...

Image

Image

Image

Then to show how tight they are....

Image

So whilst getting into the trackday mode I also managed to get hold of a B&M Shifter.... heard so much good about these and wanted to know what the 'hype' was all about....

WOW... its like a different gear shift... I don't even think its the same car.... So much nicer to drive with... Has to be in my top 3 mods..!!!

Here are a few pics.

Image

Image

Image

Next up was the bonnet. Every since I got the car back on the road and started using it the stone chips on the bonnet were driving me crazy...!! So after doing a few for my mate we struck a deal and he would paint my bonnet... :)

As I knew it has had many layers on paint on bonnet I took the bonnet to get soda blasted... Well what a finish that made... It was like it was out the factory truly fantastic job and a great base for my mate to work with.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Finally painted....

Image

Image

Image

And then polished and fitted to the Car....

Image

Really happy with the job...

Whilst all this was happening I clocked up the miles on the engine so it was time to contact Grove Garage and get the car booked in...

After a few long discussions and a few tweaks and changes in the plans the car is currently down with Grove..

Fitting the Omex,
New injectors - Bosch - 0280155968 - 440cc
Having Swirl Pot made & External Pump fitted
Then been live mapped by Ahmed

Cant wait to get the car back and start booking some track days....

Cheers

Awesome!. Cant say I'm a fan of the stripped interior but the seats are nice!!

How much would you say the engine build cost if you don't mind me asking??

Really gets me wanting one of these this car!! I just know if I get one I will end up getting carried away and spending daft money on it though and I'm juggling the idea with buying a house or just getting a M3 instead lol.

Ermmmm a few ££.... The pistons and Rods were £800, £200 for genuine ford oil pump, ARP bolts and Other genuine ford gaskets and parts.... Plus machine shop work re bore, crank polished, new bearings.

A guess around £2k maybe more :o

Nice seats. I have the same but I'm reupholstering them :)

Do you find space between seats for quick shift tight? I am looking at raising mine a little with floor modifications.

Yeah it's a little tight to go for 2nd... Was thinking of moving the holes for the passenger seat mount back a little to find the extra room...
