Re: Diary of "JPH" 2.1 ZT ( updated paint + more 18/6/10)
did u go for mk3.5 hubs or mk3 ?
really like how the underseal came out. amazing how the use of a air line makes all the difference.
Excellent work

mk3.5 hubs clark as thats what my fiesta is
yeah the underseal is 3m stone chip which is thinned a little so its not too thick
gives you that mottled effect with protection
proper chuffed with it

Proper job.
FYI the door hinges have a nylon insert in the end of them which acts as a guide and cushion for the door to swing on. It looks like they're missing from your welded hinges...

Still blown away by this
You (and others probably) are going to hate me when I say this though...I'd have loved it more in a nice metallic colour but it'd be boring if we all agreed wouldn't it

just wanted to do something different for myself
its being painted and laquered, left to air dry in the booth with extractors on (lets the paint settle flat rather having a orange peel effect)
then after a week its going to be hand flatted back
then another two coats of laquer
really should be a mega deep finish

Re: Diary of "JPH" 2.1 ZT ( updated paint + more 18/6/10)
well after the shell was painted inside,
the next morning i covered it over with paper, to stop general bodyshop dust getting on top of it
a picture of the underneath all finished
new rear 1/4 glass seals,
so now have all new seals for the car
the engine bay has had a quick prep and all seams which need sealing up have had a guide coat of green spot primer
before the final prep can happen
holes drilled for the front strut brace
to make sure theres plenty of room for the intercooler and rad setup
there was a small lip on the front panel support (highlighted with the red arrow)
so grinded this off and made it smooth to touch

Ignore this, it's not true. The bushes are in fact soft metal and are an integral (pressed in) part of the door. Sorry

Re: Diary of "JPH" 2.1 ZT ( updated 24/6/10)
ok been buying more parts
after sourcing a rear bumper only when i got it home
i realised it had been trimmed far too much
so i got hold of a new one
old one on the left, new on the right
i better look of the new one
brand new tailgate
the engine bay sealing is more or less done,
its alot more important to do a good job in the engine bay,
as i'd rather avoid any future waterleaks
even sealed non important bits, with paint over the top
it will all look much better and easier to keep clean
around the hinges all sealed up
under the scuttle panel has been done aswell

Re: Diary of "JPH" 2.1 ZT ( updated 4/7/10)
well its time to take the fiesta off the car spit,
so the next idea
should bring the car down to a better level to be painted, plus easy to move around!
all new bits to change over to manual clutch rachet adjustment
should help with the 4-paddle clutch
as my plans have grown for the engine, which has been all built up ready ages ago at ian howells
i'm going for one of his inlet manifolds, pectel t2 ford motorsport ecu, also ian has played around with my new turbo aswell
so with the new plans a better map sensor is needed,
so gone for a new cossie 3bar map sensor

Re: Diary of "JPH" 2.1 ZT ( updated 8/7/10)
heres the fiesta on her new wheels ready for a final prep
when the rear spit was extended to bolt inside the rear chassis legs from the rear panel
two holes were cut, so welded a plate and sealed up
engine bay after being prepped with various grade sanding discs
andrew finishing off the final prep
in the spray booth after all dust being blown off and masking from inside began
even the sunroof is done from inside to make sure everything gets good coverage
here she is ready for the morning, where she'll have a few tack rags before the final wet primer will be applied
the floor underneath has been covered up to stop overspray aswell
a closer look at leaving the outer side of the sill out for painting

Re: Diary of "JPH" 2.1 ZT ( updated in the spray booth 9/7/10)
ok some pictures i've been looking forward to taking for quite some time,
it finally looks worth all the hard work, NO REGRETS
heres the combination mix for ferrari rosso corsa red before it gets stirred
it was painted with base and one coat of laquer then baked, then hand flatted back before having another two coats of laquer
a massive thanks to the paint team in work, as they did the final prep and adrian did the paintwork today!
they've really outdone themselves today in my eyes
i'll leave the picture say the rest
the engine bay really does it for me

I bet that'll feel lovvvely to the touch once it's all polished and waxed up! Fantastic project matey, she's a beaut
