Mate, I can get the rest of the gearbox parts sent over between Christmas and NYE. There are pretty big delays in the courier network right now, so parts possibly won't turn up until the end of Jan.

ah you managed to find a wiper cover in the end then
alternator looks nice and fresh, not seen someone use two bolts liek that before to secure them, normally one long bolt

its my original cover, which when originally tried spraying it got contaminated
so tryed sourcing another with no luck, so tried on the original again with lots of elbow grease and its come out alright
as for the one bolt idea, aint one bolt on the parts slide

so to catch up on a few things,
picture of ians inlet manifold from underneath
something important inside
brand new pectel t2 ecu which harvey gibbs mapped my engine on
my stack gauge oil temp sensor has been added to the sump,
aswell as a return to sump for the oil breather/seperator later on
my rose jointed, camber adjustable lower arms from ian howell

cleaned the heater motor up and back in its home
new windscreen washer bottle
gearbox cradle back on
got the petrol tank ready to go on,
found these rubber isolators on on the fords ecat slide, even though they were'nt originally on the car, but cant be a bad thing
fuel tank on
put the anti roll bar bracket on the right way around, as the old man thought it was wrong when we first put it on, but after looking at old photo's at home
i was right all along, so its correct now

have you fitted axle spacers to the rear? do you remember where you got them from? i know its been years

Re: project "JPH" 2.1 ZT 358bhp-365ftlb
me too jon,
got some issues with the ib5 rear starter and the breather on the back of the block
taken the manifolds off the engine tonight and drained the oil from the engine
so tomorrow i'll decide if i'm sourcing a front mount ib5 and swapping internals, or simply moving the breather and baffle

All looking good Rob
Since you never seem to be in too much of a hurry with this build (the only way you can do something well! Not a criticism ), can I make a suggestion? I had an issue with one of the adjustable ball joints slipping on my Fiesta Frenzy lower arms. If I were to do it again, and with the time and facilities you appear to have, I would set my camber up, nip the nuts and bolts up, then drill through for perhaps an M8 bolt as a stop to make sure nothing shifted. M10 would be nice, if there is space. If you kept it to 8mm, you could perhaps have two camber settings preset (drilling the ball joint in two places on each side), so you could alter from "road" to "track" without needing to measure up. It was more than a little unnerving when mine slipped out on me, though it did only happen the once. By their design, they leave this nightmare open as a possibility really.

thanks for the idea james,
something I'll keep in mind when setting up the geometry
I'm not taking my time on purpose, it's a mixture of problems,
money, waiting for people generally
plus I'm a fussy git!

looking really good mate.
them rubber isolaters were fitted as standard to the fuel tank, dunno why yours didnt have them but they should of.
if you cant find the finis for mark i can have a look through my folder of bills and see if i can find the number of them from when i got new ones, or clark could look it up which would be easier and quicker

s**t mate depends on what your wanting it for heavy rust or anything with powder or a few coats of paint this wont do the job and youl spend more time filling it up and waitin on your compressor building up constant air to keep it going half decent

Re: project "JPH" 2.1 ZT 358bhp-365ftlb
jay it was a pain in the arse,
suprising how quick it goes
got the area really clean, lots of sheeting about as it gets everywhere
had to stop every now and then, sweep all the shot into a pile,
then pour it through a rice sieve
very time consuming, but it really did the job
you'll need a good pressure to get results from it jay
also went through loads of glasses as you cant see through them after a while

Re: project "JPH" 2.1 ZT 358bhp-365ftlb
, sounds like it could do what i want it to then.
sheeting off i can understand, would be a nightmare for sure, depending how much i had to do, i may take the car outside and do it then not worry about the shot going everywhere, but if theres a fair bit, i would need to re-use the shot. hmmm
think ill get one though, sounds like it will do what i want it to nice and easy.
the compressor i got is good, will run that ok im sure cheers mate
sorry to take the thread off topic

You're better off either hiring a pro setup, or paying someone to come do it mate. The stuff like that Clark kit won't remove underseal or the more pitted surface rust. There are one man bands who will come and do an underside for around £150.

Re: project "JPH" 2.1 ZT 358bhp-365ftlb
depends on the grain of the stuff your using and the pressure really mate.
underseal isnt a problem, i can get all that off, its just mainly for the areas i wouldnt get a grinder with a wire wheel into, which from what ive seen so far is just surface rust, it doesnt look anything too bad really.
i have contatced a media blasing place to get prices on rear axles etc to be done, but havent yet asked about doing a under side of a car, but it is something im going to get a rough price for, after all, if it can saved me days of work then its got to be worth it, ( provided its not going to be stupid money
as for hiring, tbh its not something i considered, so i will look into what the cost of hiring something would be and compair to that of someone coming round and doing it
