project mk3 :D

Postby Gibbo87 on Sat Nov 05, 2011 10:43 am

Right been on and off this site so thought its time i posted my project up ...havent had a computer and site is so slow on my phone :(.
i bought the car local for £100 quid as engine was knackered...piston had shot so the owners dad an old mecanic took the rod an piston out with valves etc and covered up oil way on the crank with a jubilee clip  but the car still ran just like it would on 3 cylinders just hardly much tho lol...the car aint to bad has usual rust on petrol cap and bit just starting on rear arch :( ...the worst of it is the paint as been rattle canned in all diffrent places. the engine bay and underneath is solid due to being caked in oil by looks of it all its life...well i got the car home and got the engine out pretty much straight away...waiting for a delivery of a mk2 xr2 engine hopefully today...cleaned all the bay up come up like new even the brake lines still look new :D ...anyways il let the pics do the talking and update as much as i can :D.
when i got the car
Image
back of car...can see rust on petrol cap just about
Image
engine out forgot to take pic of engine while in there
Image
cleanish bay awaiting new engine
Image

thats as far as i am at the moment until my engine turns up which will hopefully be today ...oh heres a pic of the jubilee clip what i mentioned earlier lol
Image

thanks for looking any &c are welcomed :D

using old gearbox for now so cleaned it up :DImage
