Again thanks for your comments guys,

I managed to get the gearbox tunnel all but complete today. It's looking pretty wicked! I have run out of welding gas though, so that stopped play this evening. I managed to get the selector mounted, and made a bracket that is welded to the inside of the tunnel to locate it.
I will be removing the engine tomorrow morning, then set about seam welding the inside of the tunnel, and the bottom of the car. The chassis legs run next to the tunnel I have made.
Again, it's all so time consuming, I'm planning on really trying to get the metalwork done at the moment. The sooner the car has some primer on the bare metal the better. :D

I have managed to get myself a differential from a Jaguar. It's a 10.5" with LSD. I have yet to collect it yet though.

Tunnel looks very good Stephanie, will you be packing it with soundproofing on top? What sort of throw do you have on the gear lever, and how long's the lever? Will be nice to have it all primed. Cage next week?

MikeCVH, Cheers mate! :)

Excursion, Yeah, it takes a little while to get used to it dude. It won't take you long to get used to it dude. Man of you talents, it won't take long.

Rodge, Thanks man! :)

nick050, Thanks mate, will definately get some vids when it's up and running mate! :D

FezzR, Cheers man. Hopefully it should put up with some fairly serious abuse. I think the gearbox is my weak point now. :) Got to collect the thing next weekend, in blackpool!

Red16, Cheers mate. Yeah it's definately a little out of the normal circle of things! :)

Sheeman, Cheers gorgeous! I'm going to use some sound deadening pad on it, but then just carpet directly on it. The gearlever is approx 8" long. The throw I would imagine is about 4-5". It feels lovely!! I'm thinking I'm going to leave the cage until last. I have plenty of fabrication to do at the rear. On looking I may have to replace the rear strut tops, of course the cage would attach to these.

Adamski, Cheers man! In the words of the Rawlster, Very 'TVResque'!

Bit of a small update,

Engine and box are out.

I needed to start work underneath the tunnel/bulkhead. This involved me removing the underseal from around the chassis legs and tunnel. I will eventually remove all the underseal from the car before final prep.

Image

Image

You can make out the new chassis legs from this angle. They seem to line up with the under car ones better than the originals!!

Image

Image

Seam sealed tunnel.

Not a massive update, but these things see, to take sooo much time!!

Oi, dont bad mouth Mark Evans! I think he's a legend for expanding his skills like he has. He's a qualified vet and now he's a hell of a builder and engineer. I take my hat off to him.

Anyway, again, nice work Steve :D

ant pittaway, Cheers man! I can't wait to drive it on the road!

sphinx, Cheers bud! You took so long collecting them, I had to eat them myself!!

adamski frst, Definately mate, 100% agree with you. I have sooo much still to do, it's unreal!! It all takes so much time to get it right. Cheers mate :D

Zetecfiesta, Cheers man, Glad I managed to pull you over to the Members gallery, LOADS of interesting stuff going on in here at the minute! :D

Heeman, Not all as symmetrical as I would have liked to be honest. Sphinx was saying earlier it looks odd on the front of the bulkhead to the tunnel. The reasoning behind this is purely to 'hug' the box as tight as I safely can, try and keep some room in the car! Yeah mate, just looking to book a hotel. Me and Lib are going to be staying in Blackpool on Saturday evening. Fancy meeting up for a quiet beer?

Mannion, Cheers mate!

Excursion,

Pornstar, Cheers mate! Not as quick as I would like though, I keep having to slow and wait to get the correct parts! Rear hubs are my main missing parts now.

Scotty_boy, Cheers mate, :D . I did my first apprenticeship as a toolmaker. I was then in the engineering maintenance position of the same company for 7 years. It made for an interesting job, and I picked up alot of information. I find though, if you find a good bloke, engineer, electrician, whatever, stick by him for a few months. Take on board what he has to say, learning from peoples experience in my opinion is the best way. :)

Rodge, Cheers mate! I wish I had, it would have made things much easier!!!

Cheers guys,

Big up Mark Evans!! :D

Heeman, Yes matey, hotel all booked up now! Should be able to catch one of the last nights of the illuminations, which should be interesting. Never been to blackpool before.

Todays update,

Started the day by again removing damn underseal! :x

Once I had completed removing the underseal I could seam weld the joints on the inner arches.

Image

I then seam sealed all the joints again, and primed it using wash primer. Then this afternoon I came back up and gave it a few liberal coats of 2k Dupont primer,

Image

Image

Image

I was initially going to underseal all the arches and the floor once I had finished the car. But looking at it now, I think I will stone chip under the floor and the inner arches. I will then paint them 2k black when I paint the car.

Pretty happy with the look so far. I have primed it mainly to protect it, as it will be a couple of weeks before I am doing any more metalwork. I don't want to give the rotworm any opportunity to get in my car!

My bloody birthday tomorrow, 26.

Roll on Saturday, :D
