Project Scort, V6 twin turbo. 'Rollin, Rollin' 30-12-07!!
Re: Project Scort, V6 twin turbo. 'Rollin, Rollin' 22-04-06!!
I've just been browsing some photographs in my phone, and forgot I hadn't updated much on this. Not alot has moved forward with the actual vehicle at the moment, but some plan changes now means that some major components are being changed.
The main component changes are as follows, Engine, Gearbox & Suspension system.
It seems crazy I know, most of the work I have already done is pretty much wasted.
Start at the beginning I suppose,
Right from the start of this project I have wanted serious power. With this in view, the V6 is probably not my best place to start. The money it's going to cost me to get it to where I want it to be is going to be pretty horrendous. I want something with enough scope to get well into the 500bhp mark, safely, who knows maybe more. I also can't get a V8 noise out of my head. I want to keep it Ford, so the engine i will be using:
Initially the engine will be supercharged, with a view of turbocharging it at a later date.
I will be using the Tremac T-56 gearbox with this engine. The amount of parts available for this engine and gearbox setup in the USA is astranomical, and all at great prices.
The suspension setup I initially incorporated into the design of the car is dated. I used in mainly as parts were easy to get hold of, and again it was the use of Ford parts.
The new suspension setup incorporates double wishbones, I'm going to try to make the most of whatever grip I can get. I will be using Ford parts wherever possible, the wishbones will of course be custom.
The basics of my new suspension setup:
Rear End:
Rear suspension:
Front Suspension:
Rear Diff:
10 Points for anyone who can tell me what that suspension setup would have been fitted to initially, with the exception of Heeman, and Excursion!
There is much more work to be done to the car now, the tunnel will be able to stay fortunately, I will need to be doing alot of work at the front and back of the vehicle. I am going to base the front end around a space frame which is in the design stage at the moment. The back end will hopefully be able to stay 'fairly' standard looking from the inside.
Thats about it at the moment, I'm hoping to get on with it in the next few months, depending of course on work commitments. Jim will then get to map a nice V8.
Questions, and comments always welcome.

When it comes to sound, I think straight sixes and V8s just about out-do the sound of a V6, they're just that bit more special You are a fool to go back so many steps, but would be ten times the fool, and liable to be labelled a homobixexual, if you'd stuck with the current design and "limited" yourself to the still-huge capabilities the car would've had Behind you all the way buddy! Bring on a lazy 450+bhp to get you started

Suspension looks like something off a kit car, maybe a westfield caterham or something similar?

Didn't think the suspension looked like it was going to be something from a normal car as the way the shocks are mounted like on a race car rather than the traditional vertical into the wheel arch way. Which tvr r they from???

Re: Project Scort, V6 twin turbo. 'Rollin, Rollin' 30-12-07!!
I've done a few bit's bud.
I don't generally post about it to be honest! People are not generally interested unless it's a box of new bits from Ford or given their car to someone else to do these days!
I've got so much on my plate, Wedding, house renovation, career, other peoples cars, the list goes on. This has taken a back seat a bit to be honest. Rest assured though it will be completed. Hopefully next summer. I will get some photographs together and do a little update at some point.
