~Vix~ :Right, this is my opinion....

After reading through this post, I'm actually disappointed in what a lot of you have said to this guy. And partly ashamed that I'm associated with this forum when this is how people are spoken to for having different tastes...

Fair enough, it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but there's no need for comments like 'its poo'. Anyone ever heard of CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM?! I think I've been in this guy's situation more than most on this forum - my car's like marmite, you either love it or hate it, but most people will give sensible opinions, rather than being downright rude.

At the end of the day, we all want FT to be known as a friendly forum, and welcoming to newbies - which hasn't happened in this post at all.

Try and be a bit more tactile with your comments, or just keep it shut :)

festa-1.3 - I have the same mirrors as you :D  Get it lowered 60mm, and see if ya can get hold of some non chive bumpers! Looking good considering you've done everything yourself :)

Vix ya need to put your car up in ere!!!

UPDATE!

Postby festa-1.3 on Sat Jul 22, 2006 1:11 pm

UPDATE!

As i said a little while ago some of the sprayed bits where coming out as i really dont like the blue that i have, i want it darker really more like the colour of the car. So i have taken all blue sprayed parts off the door cards. And the dash parts are soon to be replaced by some darker blue items. The door cards will be staying as they are now.

The Si bumper was a good move :) As said, smoked rear lights would look very good, dark colours against that sort of blue look very good, bright (i.e. clear/white/silver) colours take away some class I think.

I think you should spend half an hour cleaning the interior. Get some interior cleaning treatment (kind of like a cream you apply with a duster), that'll help get bits of mud etc out of the crackle finish on all the plastic parts. Give it a damn good hoovering, and maybe get some interior shampoo to clean the seats and carpet. It makes an enormous difference, and you'll enjoy being in the car a lot more too, I can guarantee that :) Use a damn cloth on the plastic parts (e.g. door pockets, dash itself) first if need be, to get the badly-engrained stuff out.

When i first got my car i sprayed the interior, i liked it for about a month then i realised how pants it looked lol, i hate it so much now, im really embarrassed of it, im not even gonna show u a pic cause ill just get ripped to pieces by these guys lol.

And as for the steels, im the same im afraid...i can only afford to do little bits at a time, i want some nice wheels and they cost lots of dosh, theres always something i have to spend my money on, insurance, holidays, maybe summin going wrong with the car etc. it just takes time to get enough SPARE cash to get some good wheels, nothing wrong with making your car look a little better while your waiting. after all they are projects! and it takes time to do everything u want so why waste time waitin for a chance to buy alloys while u can be gettin on with other bits?

Mine used to look like this ive wasted no time waitin for enough spare cash for alloys, they'll come in good time!

Totally agree with you mate. The painted dash items can look good sometimes, but i am now starting to hate the colour of mine, when i get the darker kit it will look better and i also will not have as many blue pieces as last time.

you can mate, was a god send that someone damaged my smooth boot trying to get into the car, that way i put the mk5 boot on and then had mk5 std lights.

they look alot better than the clear lights ever did, dont know why but i think the clear rears never realy suited the car at all and not a huge fan of them after fitting them and having them on the car for 3 years!

Glad you realised that ur old blue was WAY too bright. Si bumper looks good, a much better match than mine which my brother rattle canned whilst he had the car  .

I'm actually thining that the darker blue bits will look quite good. Ur retrimmed door cards look a little plain with the black bits. I see you now have electric switches AND window winders.

The doors look awsome! Much much much better without the bright coloured painted parts. But ya see, you had to try it! and you eventually didnt like it and changed back, thats what modding can be all about at times. Finding out what you like!

Top notch bloke for not listening to all the assholes droning on at you about not liking what you did at first, your getting there and learning and having fun at the same time! Keep going! :D

looks good mate but on a dark car smoked rear lights or german accessory lights are the way forward!! just a suggestion where you have retrimed your door cards (they do look cool dont get me wrong)

but where the old material was you can see the piping marks through it, it might be an idea to take the material off the door card and where the line goes fold over a small piece of the material and sew it along the edge giving it the break up in the sections, does that make sense??? lol its really hard to explain, OR maby even but some old door cards and thake the piping off and sew it on behind the new material so it is still visible but black!!! just a thought tho baz
