Postby HCS PIMP on Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:02 am

Hey guys as many of you may know my mk4 got written off by a lovely audi TT so now ive got myself a nice fiesta mk3.5 ghian with a beastly 1.6 16v

compaired to a 1.3 endura lump its deffo beastly

so far got the car with a genuine 64400 k on the clock and a very tidy car all over and still have alot of brand new ford stickers on the engine bay :D

So i got the car from Stoke on Trent and since then Ive cleaned it, replaced the wishbones and bolts (with courrier ones)
Changed the oil for some 5w50 fully synthetic motorsport oil :P with a Mahl filter
Gapped the spark plug and tested the leads reading 6 ohm - 3ohm resistance across the board
Tested the alt and battery both spot on
Fitted my old air filter off HEWY
Skimmed the discs, stripped brakes cleaned up and painted the carriers
Greased everything and refitted :P

so heres the pictures :D

You going to put the escort wheels off your mk4 onto it?

You should have made those bottom arms camber adjustable whilst they were off to!

lol with the good old angle grinder, bolts and the drill hahaha

tbh you get neg camber naturally when you lower a fez and ive never had handling problems over the 4 years ive been driving them

with everything from pi 60mm springs, spax 60mm spring h&R coilies and standrad shocks and springs

gonna fit the esrs wheels with prada tyres and the mondeo 260 mm brakes once i get it back

i miss the handling of 195 50 r15s

but yeh it flies with the new oil and induction kit plan to fit the HKS filter once ive got some new sponge :D

Well let see better protection at higher temps
When it comes to engine oil there's boundary, mixed, elastrohydrodynamic and hydrodynamic lubrication

hydro dynamic lubrication the likes of which is used in engine bearing at the crank the oil is about 2 nm thick.
5w30 as ford designed the engine to use is fine for day to day ruinning but when you start to give the car some stick.
Do you really want cheap thin oil running in there. The oil holds the crank in a central postion so the crank can move about 360 degrees
Also the detegrent package in the 5w50 halfords (COMMA) motorsport oil is very similar to that run in the older BTCC cars so Im happy to run it have done so with my last 3 zeta and 4 zetec e engines.

words simply can not describe you

why have you cable tied the air filter to the battery wires, adding unessesery pressure to them?

why have you risked scoring the discs when they looks perfectly fine to begin with?

and why have you used 'motorsport' oil for a 1.6 everyday use car?

that oil wont start to protect untill the engine is upto full working temperature,a nd wont fully protect it even then...

mate liek he said put the right stuff in or risk fudgekin up a good engine...

that oil is designed for high power high temp engines, this wont get much hotter than 90 degrees (coolant wont atleast)

Why bother getting halfrauds motorsport oil at the wrong grade and buy something the right grade but better like castrol etc? Going to do far better good even if your giving it the beans. besides its not as if the zetec burns the oil quickly like the sigma engines, so that oil will be in there for ages and your gonna ruin it at normal driving.

I use normal 10w40 Halfords oil in my car with no problems at all, but motor sport oil I've never felt the need to try...

im a parts advisor at a ford main dealer

and i know from ford specifications thats the wrong oil for a fiesta zetec - racing car or no racing car

not even the new focus rs with 350bhp doesnt require that oil for road use.
who ever you have been talking to mate must be a complete nob jockey.

as for discs you have taken the lip off instead of replacing them - making them uneven. which leads to uneven pad wear and less surface area being used to stop your car.
well done :)

In regards to the oil. I ran my RS1800 on halfords normal oil and it was still running fine at 160k! so I really dont think there was any need for that oil.
