hang on, he asked if your gonna fit a manifold, and you respond with, no its a blinking 1.6....

so tell me, whats with the 'motorsport oil' a pair of V6 brakes, and a bloody magnex system that makes no fudgekin louder exhaust note and your moaning at him for that?

haha none of the above will increase speed or power!

a magnex system is no louder than standard but due to larger silencers and use of mandrel bends flow echaust more efficently if you know anythign about the 1.6 zeta engine then you know a free flowing cat back system and a good air filter are the best modifications you can do to improve power

I wasnt tryign to have a go with the manifold response i just didnt see the reason why i would need one

the v6 brakes arent gonna be fitted at this moment in time i feel the 260mm brakes will sufice

the 5w50 motorsport oil i have been using for the last 3 years in everything from a 1.6 8v tu saxo engine X2
a fiesta 1.6 zetec X3 Escort zetec X3 a 206 1.4 16v sport X1 and a few other cars

Ive found it makes the engines considerably quieter on tick over and run alot smoother with a marked improvement in fuel economy
i understand people may think i dont know alot about cars this is purely due to the fact when i post it is normally at night after ive spent the day working on my car so im not always in the most literate of moods

But please understand I dont appreciate every 5 Mins gettting arsey feedback trying to Co-herese me into an argument or a row

I would much prefer this sort of poster to not bother reading my updates as you dont help yourself nor me

UPdate: Changed the coolant for some pink Coolant after using radwelds speed flush and 4 buckets of clear waster afterwards to flush it thru

after the drive back from maccasfeild marked improvement in engine temps :)

more updates tomorow when i might replace the clutch and fit the new gearbox mounts or failing hat fit the new brakes and do some undersealing / polishing

I asked if you were fitting a manifold for the reason that the standard manifold is fairly restrictive..
And even though you don't want any more power improvements, every little helps.

On the zetec se, fitting a manifold is seen as one of the cheaper ways of getting more from the engine.

i think oil is oil unless u need something decent in your car for turbos. wouldnt bother with expensive stuff in a ghia tho.

anyways hope the project going ok where you heading with the car as a finished job?..

if all goes to plan 2.0 with escort plastic inlet and tubular manifold, then upgrade with cams and poss throttle bodies
H&R or possibly Gaz coilovers (cheap but comfortable)
Rs turbo front bumper and ZS rear bumper, Smooth boot with rs spoilier, custom vented bonnet, repsray in graphite grey or something special
Then brake wise probs 288mm v6 brakes up front and zs rear beam with focus disc conversions, then upgrade to pedal box with twin compbrake master cylinders
poss spherical top mounts to get some more camber and sports

wheels im keeping the steelies :D

Plan is have the engine by chrimbo this year, and gonna do some head work :P Ive done a 1 or 2 before and the results were fun

Aiming for a fairly track / retro hot rod lookign fiesta with good midrange and top end not be ott with noise or (insert ghey rap term)
but put a big smile on your face and go like the clappers

Your a joke, learn some thing from what others have to say instead of ignoring everyones help and opinions. If your on about the free flowing of a exhaust and how its better then why haven't you got a manifold?

Oh and stay off wiki!

probably not bother with the smooth handles i like having a practical car day to day

today I undersealed the front end and the underneath with tetra shultz fitted the HKS filter and cold air feed
removed the remaining air box
fitted the 260mm brakes which i painted black
got the new gearbox mounts sorted and tomorow ill probs fit the clutch and gearbox mounts

also heard back from wakefield I've got on the HNC mecahnical engineering and I will be starting some point next week at the tunning firm :P

more details when i have time

I like Ghia's, and the 1.6 Engine is so sweet, especially compared to the 2.0.

I'm pretty sure the Escort Manifold won't fit, when I fitted a Black Top I used the Focus manifold, which is a good 30mm narrower than the Escort/Mondeo type. There's not any point messing with the 1.6, nothing helps a great deal as the head is the main restriction. All the standard manifolds are fine for the 1.6.

Forumla Ford Zetec-E's ran 0W50 to 15W50, but TBH for a road car, especially the 1600, you're just loosing out on economy and power.

Is that meant to be a flippant joke really???

The HKS filter was given to me by a family friend and unlike most penis extensions.... sorry induction kitsm, it is very well designed. Has a ram stack fitted inside the filter to improve the air ram effect and give better performance.

I'm under no allusions this will give me any more power maybe 1bhp on a good day, but it give better throttle response and improve air flow also aids MPG

Its acctually more air equals more petrol, The ECU bumps up the fuel to keep the ratios the same. So in theory it should reduce petrol consumption.

matt is right, the more air you take in the more fuel you use, worsening your mph

why do you insist on battling half the forum?
surely you are considering that the majority is right by now?

Im sorry the day I come to you for advice hell will freeze over so please stop offering your advice
I agree you have an opinion but its one im not willing to listen to
DO you knwo how to build a high mpg engine ???
Do you understand the venturi effect
Do you know what end float
Do you know what back emf is and why it can reduce engine power in regards to the alt
Do you understand why the stochiometric ratio is gospel

This makes no sense, why have a 2.0 engine fitted, use motorsport oil, if your aiming for mpg? you even admitt using it for going fast? if you were so concerned with things like the venturi process (reducing the width to speed up gas flow, pretty much) then why buy off the shelf items? why not get them built to you spec?

are you an engineer or something? or just a general know it all?
