Re: Pushing the xr2i
ported and big valve head, cam, balanced bottom end, twin 40's or r6 carbs (cheaper option), 4-2-1 manifold
Ratspeed :Maybe Wardy257 has a magazine article on it................

Re: Pushing the xr2i
My old 2i recorded a smidge over 130bhp with the following
Ported and polished head
Piper cam and vernier
Ashley 4-2-1 manifold
Custom exhaust system (proper one not naff PowerFlow affair)
Superchip
K&N cone
FRST Bailey breather system
Went pretty well and was enough to give VTS Saxo's a run for their money
Only clip I have to hand of it when we ran it on the dyno.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Re: Pushing the xr2i
I've not seen it done often, but you could use throttle bodies with some Megasquirt or something.

Re: Pushing the xr2i
bike carbs are ALOT CHEAPER though, lookin at £50 for the carbs, £150 for the inlet manifold and then £100 for set-up on a rolling road, only thing needed to be done is sort out the ignition timing with megasquirt or a dizzy and coil arrangement

I dunno. My mate got GSXR600 throttle bodies for £43. Can get a plastic focus manifold to cut up for about £40 and some pipes to join the 2 may be about £40. Megasquirt management is about £275 built. Rolling road setup will be about the same either way I'd guess. Wont need again though, unlike carbs, and you'll save money on all the fuel it doesn't guzzle.

Re: Pushing the xr2i
You would require Megajolt if you were going to go bike carbs as there is no squirt to be controlled. The car will drink like a fish as well so don't count on any fuel savings. Worth doing though as the results are superb.
We spoke to Borg Brothers a few months ago about doing a conversion on a Zetec S but were told there was no way they could get the emmisions down to pass an MOT. Fair play to them for their honesty
