putting a mk4 engine onto a mk3?

Postby MiniMe2 on Wed Aug 13, 2003 8:41 pm

Is it possible to put a MK4 1.6 Zetec engine into my mk3?

currently got a 1.4 in there. The reason i would choose this engine is becasue it is only a group 8 where as something like n rs turbo is a group 15.

What engine would you all recommend? I turn 20 soon with 2 years no claims

Theres no such thing as a mk4 1.6. Do you mean the 1.6 Zetec-E engines from Mk3.5 Si's or mk5 Zetec-S engine?

i am talking about the MKIV Si 1600 Zetec engine mate

would it be a better bet to go for a focus engine? is that possible? say the nice 2.0 Zetec?

both engines are a group 8 insurance

what engine would you go for?

Well ive never heard of a mk4 Si with a 1.6 engine, they had 1.4 16v iirc.
To be honest mate you might as well whack a 2.0 mondeo engine in.

speak to tony at pumaspeed

http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk

anything can be done with a little cash

shouldnt see it being too hard getting the engine in there...

however, for the little bit extra it'll cost, get the 1.7 puma lump in there... what an engine, more power in the beginning, and much more perspective for big power later on, with things such as cams, chips, racing puma intake and exhaust maifolds, throttle bodies, turbo's, nitrous.... the list is endless,

the 1.6 is still a very sweet engine, just not as much perspective for it unless spending bvery very very big bucks
