Putting a turbo on an 1.6 si ?

Has anyone done it, i know everyone will say put a 2lt in but anyway.
Who could do it, and kind of power could u get ?

Al, sorry if this has been done before. search engine wasnt doin it for me.

I thought the 1600 was too restrictive, so a turbocharger won't improve things dramatically, hence why most people go the 2ltr route.

Hi m8, i don't know anyone yet that has turbo's the 1.6 si engine, but lower comp pistons would be needed, and i think the valves would need changing, as there only small in the 1.6, you need a different inlet manifold, as the sequential Efi one is not up to the job, so ive heard. You would need a ECU from a turbo model, intercooler. Im sure there's more.

Do a search for posts by "g-flash" if you want a laugh.

As for turbocharging the 1600, you will normally get more reliable power for less money by using the 1800 or 2.0L.

Proj is g-flash the dude that has turbo'd his Si?? If not, there IS a guy on here that has supposedly done so Matt. :)

g-flash was a peen-arse lol
theres a guy from rotherham thats done it... he was havin problems tho :bonkers:

it can be done. but for the sake of takin out the engine which aint exactly rocket science, u might as well go 1.8 or the 2.0 etc...

u will only regret it later i bet :rolleyes:

About £100 less than a 2L, which will kick out at least 50bhp more for the same cost of turbo'ing.

Base engine £100 more, cost of turbo'ing the same. When you can get 50bhp for a ton, it's wise to take it!
