I thought the 1600 was too restrictive, so a turbocharger won't improve things dramatically, hence why most people go the 2ltr route.

Hi m8, i don't know anyone yet that has turbo's the 1.6 si engine, but lower comp pistons would be needed, and i think the valves would need changing, as there only small in the 1.6, you need a different inlet manifold, as the sequential Efi one is not up to the job, so ive heard. You would need a ECU from a turbo model, intercooler. Im sure there's more.
Hope this helps.

Do a search for posts by "g-flash" if you want a laugh.
As for turbocharging the 1600, you will normally get more reliable power for less money by using the 1800 or 2.0L.

theres a guy from rotherham thats done it... he was havin problems tho
it can be done. but for the sake of takin out the engine which aint exactly rocket science, u might as well go 1.8 or the 2.0 etc...
u will only regret it later i bet

About £100 less than a 2L, which will kick out at least 50bhp more for the same cost of turbo'ing.
Base engine £100 more, cost of turbo'ing the same. When you can get 50bhp for a ton, it's wise to take it!
