Hi,

Quaife is a UK manufacturer/tuning company specialising in gearboxes to racing standard. Very high quality, very strong.

http://www.quaife.co.uk

Quaife is not a special type of gearbox/technology/technique, it is a company :)

Quick shift is just a shorter gear change - standard layout, just shorter distance to move the gear stick when you change. Ive seen these for 300-odd quid for the fiesta i think.

So you want a sequential (rally style) gear change? pull to change up, push to change down.

I dont think there are any kit type things available - one would have to be specially made (which it more than likely was for the R5 - they gotta have sommit mad and different to be in Max Flower) or nicked from a car that has it (almost impossible i would have thought).
I would imagine that it would cost a pretty penny however it was done.

Anyone correct me if im wrong - thats just what i kno (or at least think i kno :) )

You are correct on the Quick Shifts, you can pick up B&M Quick Shift kits for £100 AFAIK for a fiesta.

What you mean by "pull the stick back to knock it up a gear" is a Sequential gearboxes. These come in Touring cars,SupersCars (paddles) F1 Cars,Rally cars. They are used due to the fact gearchanges can be made in 3 hundreths of a second, much quicker than a human could possibley do.
They are possible, but the one you know in the Renualt 5 cost over £6000. Ive seen 3 Renault 5 GTT's with sequential gearboxes, although they shift quickly they arent really worth the extra money. I have no idea how much it would cost to get a sequential gearbox in a fiesta though. According to Bernie at CTS ( http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ ) You are looking at over £7500+ for a 6speed sequential gearbox.

Id go for the Stage 3 Fiesta box which comes with Quaife straight cut gears and a Quaife ATB.

my m8 has a mini with a straight cut box and it sounds ok but he says it'll sound most worst on a mini and he is a mini mechainc at minis only so?

i reckon it would sound cool surtenly turn heads, plus bringing the festa back to the rally beast it is.
