Re: Quantum H4
sorry rob, but you seem wrong saying its a custom chassic with bits and pieces of a fiesta... this is literally a fiesta wearing lots of makeup...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QUANTUM-H4-/190759227156?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555001%26algo%3DPW.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D123%26meid%3D3761866105836308676%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1071%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D281030294861%26
but i think its awesome, a fiesta is a perfect car to build a sports convertible from, think of all them aftermarket parts you can use, eg the zetec/rsturbo engines, wheels brakes rear lights its amazing!
they do actually look nice too
love the ad for yours mate, alot of effort has gone into your H4, hope she fetches what you want for it

Re: Quantum H4
The whole Q plate is done on scoring system.
1. If the car is built using all new parts or fully rebuilt parts (such as a fully rebuilt engine by a professional company) you get a new reg as the car is classed as brand new like buying ford from the dealer.
2. If the car uses a significant number of parts from certain car it gets an age related plate. If I remember correctly it works on a negative score. So you try to stay below a certain score. If you built a kit car and used a new engine you might score 5 points, if you also put in new suspension you might get like 3 points.
3. If the total of your points goes above a certain score or if you can't prove where your parts came from you get a Q plate. These are seen as less desirable as they can not be changed for a private plate and I think there is still a stigma attached to Q plates.
Hope that helps with the previous posts.

No I'm not. No it's not. Do some research that doesn't involve just looking at pictures. It does not use a fiesta chassis, as stuart said earlier in the thread.

Quantum H4
Jony, do yourself a favour and read this...
http://www.quantumowners.co.uk/index.ph ... quantum-h4
Areas to focus on:
General
Its design differs somewhat from earlier Quantum models in that it uses a powder coated steel chassis, which is enclosed by a fibreglass shell. The body styling is somewhat more rounded and "softer" than the Coupe and 2+2 models. All the various options of Ford engine and gearbox components bolt directly to the steel chassis. The bodyshell/chassis assembly is extremely strong and due to its construction provides excellent crash protection.
The Quantum H4 has been carefully designed to utilise as many parts as possible from just one donor vehicle - the Mk3/Mk3.5 Ford Fiesta, hence the choice of "standard" power plant can range from the smallest CVH through the Zetec and even the RS Turbo.
Chassis
Purpose designed, tubular steel 2-pack coated as standard. Integral to the shell - most parts are fully encased in GRP when the body shell and floor pan are sandwiched around it.

Re: Quantum H4
I always thought that it needs Cossie rims or some of XR Dubs image rims
It can go lower but its a sports car and is set up to be driven like one. Lower would look good standing still

Yep the rims that are on at the moment are on for the winter and also because I wanted to try a 7J rim.
The car will be on Ebay starting on Thursday night so no plans to shop as a replacement car should be coming soon
