Question aboot injectors...

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby EvilFranky on Mon Apr 08, 2002 12:44 pm

I want to give them a proper cleaning out...can i take them out and do this myself...or would it be best to take it somewhere to get done? Like getting them serviced?

Any advice appreciated as always

Since you have other plans for the motor Franky, you'd be best off having them properly cleaned out

Standard injection cars can get away with fuel treatment and maybe having the fuel pressure wound up slightly, or an FSE valve if you're too lazy to have it checked.

Al, i told u that u r like a god damn walking talking haynes manual!

Yeah your right about the other things for my car...so how would i go about increasing the fuel pressure in the fuel rail without using a power boost valve? Sumthing to do with a spring or sumthing?

And how much would it cost to get the injectors done? roughly?

Excursion mate, how do u do it? Or is it something i would have to ask the rolling road technician to do?

Top of the regulator has a shiny cap. Remove using care - prolly need a chisel knocked into it, then prised off but might be handy to have a spare on hand, or you could take it to the rolling road since it has to be RRd to get the best power from it (don't fiddle with it yourself cos overfuelling is seriously shi'te for your bores and rings).

Ok, so if i ask one of the guys at the rolling road place to do it, they won't laugh at me?

Half expect them to turn round and say its pointless...but surely this would help with getting fuel to the injectors and into the inlet manifold?

All they do is push cleaner through at high pressure and fit "dummy" pulses to the injectors so they open and close rapidly till they are clean (EFI), or just push the cleaner through till they are clean (MFI)

So not much diff from buyin some treatment urself n pourin them into ur tank. Do that for 4 times = 4 tanks n 4 treatments. Thus giving u the same effect or manybe less than 4 times :-?

better 2 take them out, means you can get more pokey treatment and doesn't f**k anything else up. or just buy new ones.
