question about map sensor pipe

Can anyone tell me why there is a valve between the inlet and map sensor and if its needed?

its a moisture trap...get any water in your map sensor and it will die pretty much instantly...that why the sensors are mounted upside down

Hmm hope mines not dead. May be why it starts and then dies. But was running with throttle. Cant find one
