quick guide to fitting the Xr/RS skirts and arch kit

Postby jonyb4 on Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:35 pm

Hi, started spraying my XR skirts and arches ready to fit them to my Si, a few of the studs are missing from the arches.

ive heard a good way is to use fords plastic coated rivets, ive found remains of some on the kit

basicly which is the best way? preferably best long lasting hold but easy to apply

how do i fix the arches? and how to fit the skirts? rivets and new studs? sound expensive as a ford dealer is involved
or do i use sealers, but seem more difficult to use

im not very good with cosmetics as in fibreglass or tiger seal etc, truth being ive never used either

any help is appreciated thanks :)

my kit had all the studs missing so i used a body kit glue i bought from a paint speciallist,

applied it over the insides of the kits arches then used strong tape to hold them in place over night, worked perfect, looks the part and sets rock solid so it wont go anywhere.

just have some white spirit on hand with a cloth incase you get the glue on the paintwork.

for the skirts i just used self tapping screws for the top and bottom, holds them perfect.

fitted mine about 4 years ago and aint had no problems at all.

hope this helps

i can get the name for you 2moro ive still got some in the garage.

yes i completely cleaned my arches inside and out and the same with my sills

you could use some hammerite or rust preventor on your arches and sills before putting the kit on that would help with rust.
