Race 1587cc CVH TURBO
Hello.Im planning cvh turbo for racing.Have anyone ever build over 400hp 1600 cvh? Does the block take the abuse? What about 1600 ZETEC block whit CVH head.My goal is 500hp/7000RPM/29.5PSI!!!!!!!! My car is an Escort MK2 for rally-sprint.My car is going to be max. 1588cc because of the FINISH rally-sprint minimum weight regulations.I´m sorry for my bad english but i am from FINLAND!!!!

Man I dunno about from where you come from, but over here 300bhp is the very most you will see from a 1.6cvh and that isnt reliable power. Might work for races though!
Why not make a 2.1 Zetec Turbo like most the lads on here do. 400bhp is possible from that config

2.0 Zetec turbo
Becauce the min. weigh of 1588cc turbo is 952kg and the 2.1 Zetec turbos if 16V is 1190KG!!!! I dont have a chance whit that kind of TANK!!!

I find that very unlikely mate. How can swapping from a CVH engine to a Zetec add on 240kg of weight. They arent even that different
Sunny on this forum would likely know the weight difference, as might Excursion and a few others who have 2.1 Zetec's

The reliability of a 2.1 ZT putting out 400bhp would "outweigh" (for want of a better word ) the nightmare of making a CVH make 400bhp. Are you talking weight differences between classes in a racing series? ZT would have better torque and power capabilities than the CVH...

Blody rules
Its not the enginess weigh making the proplem but the class rules. It now has an BMW M10(8v) turbo min.weigh of 1090kg.Needs to be lighter.Power from that engine is not a problem, but the weigh is a RERY BIG proplem!!!

Considering reliability wise any more than 300bjp in a CVH is unreliable. A 500bhjp 2.1 Zetec Turbo would provide a greater benefit to you and a higher power/weight ratio. 238kg more for 200bhp more.
Do the maths.

Jep,Jep
Kiitoksia.
