Ok, but what does it actually do. This is just an enquiry as i dont know. Im not thinking of fitting one or anything.

Modified fuel rails are used to overcome limitations in the standard rail e.g. not being able to cope with the additional fuel delivery required for an uprated engine.

yup as our bob says, fuel rail is a resivour and when you start running huge injectors the capacity of the rail is not enough to prevent startvation or surging
