Radiators/Cooling

Postby Mish on Mon Mar 26, 2007 11:04 am

My rad has a small leak that I noticed the other day...at the moment I can't see it doing any harm and temps are running normal but I'd like to get it replaced.

At the moment I'm not running massive power- around 165bhp/170bhp but am wanting to go to stage 2 soon and was wondering whether it's worth investing in an alloy Rad?

If so can anyone point me in the right direction of a decent one, a direct replacement if possible to save hassle and also advise me if these are actually worth the extra money etc? This is an area I'm not well informed on!

Cheers,
Mish

Chuck a bottle of rad weld in, although they do last i would only do this as a temp measure especially with a turbo!

Exactly- which is why I want to do it properly :)

However many new parts I fit to the Fiesta it loves to try and catch me out so I'm trying to beat it to it

Out of interest how does radweld work? Does it go into the coolant system? As surely it could cause stuff to become blocked up?! :oooh:

What intercooler set up are you planning on? If you are thinking of using a full width intercooler then an alloy rad is a worthwhile investment

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Yup tbh I'm thinking of getting a full length front mount and tbh if I'm doing something I may as well do it properly!

Any makes I should stay well clear on, with both intercooler and rad or is it best as long as I stick with the main brands such as the Pace and GRS setups?

Any advice on the best places to get them from? I've had a look round the net this morning (shh don't tell the boss) but obviously with stuff like this I'd rather go through recommendation, so if someone can give me some pointers in the right direction I'd appreciate it

Cheers all
