a few options,

sponge behind the number plate
expanding foam in the tailgate
sound deaden (Dynamat, second skin, skinz, edead, Damplifier, Stinger, etc etc) the tailgate and the back panels...

it all depends on how far you want to take it mate...sound deaden is expensive - my Focus is covered in about £800 of the stuff!! thats excluding labour!

there are cheaper alternatives like roof adhiesive which is just as good initially, but its only when you look into the properties you will see BIG differences between that and proper sound deadening

i would do the sponge trick...then see where the rattle is coming from...while the sound is playing, hold the boot lid down to see if you can find areas where to begin sound deadening

Your almost bound to get a rattling noise from older cars when fitting a sub, basically all you gotta do is play a track with alot of quite high bass frequencies and just listen around your car finding all the little rattles and finding a way of tightening them.

I don't have a spoiler and my car does this too with a sub.

As far as i can tell, it the hinges for the boot.

Is there anyway to solve this, as they are not loose or anything?

another quick bit of advice...tighten the boot latch as much as you can and also take all the tailgate panels off and tighten all nuts and bolts there...if you need any help or sound deadening etc feel free to give me a shout as i always stock sound deadening and am always here to help!
