Re: My 1.8 focus MP3 - Wheels refurb in white :P
just got a 1.8 focus mp3 for the family.
Heres some pics.
My favourite bit is the wheels.
I have a few small plans for this car but nothing mental as its a family car.
Hoping to lower it,put cams and 65mm throttle body in there along with induction kit and a new exhaust. Might even put bluefin on her, if money is good.
I will get some more piccys up when I get her home as I'm just waiting for the V5 to arrive from another dealer.

Easy on the eye Rubbing strips spoil the sides a bit IMO. I wouldn't want to remove them, given that it's a family car...maybe colour code them?

James - yea i agree mate. I want to colour code them at some point but my priorities are with the engine and suspension at the moment.
When I come to the bodywork i want to get the wrc spoiler (pictured below) and change the front fogs for st170 items as well as sort the rubbing strips out
smo - I think its a mk1 focus mate but i could be wrong.

Oh I know, I just mean it's the updated one Have a look at a really early MK1, and you'll see what I mean
Indicators are in the headlights on the later MK1 like yours, and you also have much nicer bumpers, amoung other little touches

smo - yea i get ya. There is an old old one across the road from me and the indicators are on the bumper and look s**t.
mrorange2 - thatnks man. Someone said today that they were crap because they are standard alloys
I just thaugh what a 'conquering device' as he drives around in a bright yellow paxo 1.1 with a silly bit exhaust ect. (max power boy). They just dont understand the ford scene at all. I'm personally interested in a quick but really clean car with lots of ford bits on it. I dont like the whole big mumpers and chrome rims thing.

Well I picked her up the other day after a small delay and am so happy with her.
The garage have fitted a new sump, as the old one had started to rot a little, 4 new tyres and the usual service parts for me and given her a good valet, which i am more than happy with.
After a close inspection I have spotted the odd little scratch on the paintwork and that tyhe wheels could proably do with a re-furb in tyhe near future but apart from that its in very good condition.
Here are a few pics i took in a rural area near by, after i picked her up the other day.

Cool, if it was me id de-wiper it but you could fit a 406 estate rear wiper instead. Also valeo aero wipers for the front.

Re: My 1.8 focus MP3 - sunset piccys (new camera)
Well I'v now fitted a k&n which sounds alot better than standard and I'm looking into getting a 4 branch manifold, de-cat and system second hand from a guy I met on here.
She is now missfiring at 1.5k on full load So I'm going to put some new plugs and leads on and see if that sorts it out. If not then I guess I will have to move on to coil pack and if that doesn't work I dont have a clue what it is. Is there any chance it could be the cat??? as i am getting a strange white powdery resedue around the end of my tail pipe.

get bluefin on it mate, I have it on my MP3 and it diagnoses faults and gives you the Ford DTC code. Ability to clear as well. And also, remaps
K&N does sound wicked on these as well. As for the mis-fire, is it only at 1.5k? Starts normally?

Re: My 1.8 focus MP3
Indeed it does my friend I'v put new plugs on and no change so just gotta get some new leads and will hopefully sort it.
I am umming and arring about bluefin because i want a remap after i'v done all of my other mods and i'm not sure weather it would be better just to get a custom mapped chip as i would probably get more from my specific set up.

Re: My 1.8 focus MP3
Well things are really not getting off to a good start to say the least. Money is tight with the new house and christmas ect so nothing is really going on with the cfar at the moment.
I have still done nothing else to the car whatsoever and she still has a slight missfire. I will be putting a new coilpack on in the new year along with some magnacor leads so that should hopefully sort my problems out.
The next step when I finally get some cash sorted out is to fit a seat cupra front splitter and get a trip computer put in. Shortly followed hopefully by a bluefin and perhaps exhaust. But as usual this all depends on what cash is available after everything else.

Re: My 1.8 focus MP3
hope you get the missfire sorted mate.
also with regards to bluefin, if you are thinking of going beyond exhaust, induction sparks etc then its not worth it. I had this discussion on the ffoc and for stage 1 if you like induction/exhaust sort of thing its fine. but when you start going stage 2 and go for cams, its not worth it. so basically if you can see yourself getting a set of cams don't go for bluefin! get it mapped with the cams.
mine is the same as it was apart from got lovely new philips diamond vision headlight bulbs and now i've got a cfm 65mm throttle body to go on it
Will also have all new brake discs and pads all round on the car. all going to be decent spec as I like the idea of being able to stop fairly quickly and safely

Re: My 1.8 focus MP3
Yea man I know what you mean about the brakes. I want to do the st170 conversion however as always money is the problem. Having a kid ect means I have very little spare cash available.
I'm not entirely sure what to go for with regards to management. I know that a custom map would be better once i'm all sorted but i dont know what I am going to do to the engine yet as I may be getting a second car nect year.
Update your thread when you get your throttle body fitted.

Re: My 1.8 focus MP3 (4-2-1,decat and system coming soon)
Well the last few days I'v been chatting with a bloke who is going to sell me an OBX manifold, a decat pipe and a stainless system for my car for a very reasonable price. I will hopefully be picking it up in the next few weeks so watch this space.

looks good, the earlier focus looks much better than the newer ones i think. one thing i think your car needs though is lowering, it will make a world of difference

Yea I know mate but its a case of being able to afford the kit. I dont wanna just put it on springs as I'd rather wait to get my hands on either some coilovers or a decent set of shocks and springs.
I agree totally about the early foci looking better. They go better too as theyre not as heavy as 4 double decker busses

you'll definitely feel the car more eagerly wanting to pull with that set of mods. I have the ST170 manifold on mine along with decat and piper exhaust. might be worth getting some heatwrap for the manifold as well mate.

Yea I may well do that. I might just polish up the manifold for a while first thaugh lol. Has the heat wrap made a difference to yours??? I cant imagine it doing much more than just keeping the rad cool but i'v heard it can help the gasses flow better as the heat is kept in more.
