Good to hear I'd hate to see that car broken as its probably the best mk4 I'v seen :Q

Gave my engine bay a quick clean the other night. Sory about pioc quality as it was getting dark.

I'm at 2 minds weather or not I should wrap my manifold. I like the look of a wraped manifold but wIll it make any difference to performance if I do??

I'd put an enclosed airbox on, That will improve your performance. Or put it back to standard at least!

Yea I have thaught about putting the old airbox back on but as said I do love the sound and it would just wind me up knowing that I'v baught something for the car and then dicided its not better

I have got a decent cold air feed to it. Maybe I should make some kind of enclosure for it? Or just buy a BMC lol. I think I'l try it with the old airbox on and see if theres any noticable difference.

K&N looks cheap too IMO.

Get an ST170 snorkel and automatic air deflector :)

Oh its like that is it!!!!!!!

Its all just more money I can't afford to spend thaugh atm. If I go changing that then my other colourcoding has to wait and then everything else lol. Its hard being skint and loving cars sooo much!!!!! (especially when your missis spends all your spare cash)

Right watch this space as in the next week or so I will be Making my own heat shield for my K&N as I dont want to take it off but I do want it to work better.

After much searching on google I found this thread which has been quite useful and I will try and adapt some of the ideas used to make my own cold air system.

http://www.nloc.net/vbforum/gen-2-light ... ntake.html

I was thinking something along the lines of routing my cold air pipe into the bottom of a homemade heat shield which will totally enclose the k&n cone. Or perhaps keep it open at the top but have it seal against the bonnet when it is closed.

Lol I can see this being alot of fun. If I dont manage to get it right I'l probably just buy a BMC or something but I'm confident this will work.

Postby niracka on Sat Sep 13, 2008 3:12 pm

Little update.

I have recently got a new pair of aero wipers, which are sooooo much better than the ones I had before and they look really kool IMO.

Apart from that I have now colour coded the front grile and the boot handle and am very pleased with the results. The car just looks so much neater without the horrible black plastic bits.

Next I will be re-doing the rear bumper strips as the finnish is s**t lol. I'm just going to rub them down and apply a quick coat of paint and then some laquer again.

After that all that remains is the side strips (which I'm dreading lol) I'm not going to bother with the door handles just yet as I want to get the car lowered and a few other bits inside such as multi speed wiper stalk and trip computer.

Steve - I had totally forgotten about that to be honest mate lol. I think I am just going to take mine off and mask the holes for a couple of days as I'm quite happy with the finnish I have been getting with the rest of the car. Will also look alot better when I have been over it all with a polishing maching and some compound :)

Nick - Thanks for the encouragement mate. It looks soooo much better doesn't it!!! I can't wait to finnish it so I can move on to the suspension ect. Its real hard being into cars when your on a tight budget thaugh

I have recently re-sprayed my rear bumper strips as the finnish on them was crap and they now looks spokt on like the rest :Q

Decided to go out thwe other night and take a few piccys of the car. Unfortunately I had to discard most of the piocs I got because I couldn't get my camera to focus properly ect but I did manage to save these ones.

yeah esacty the same, The ride was fairly hard but I set them quite stiff, makes the car handle sweet. I would just start with the shocks set soft and put them up a couple of notches until your happy make sure you have the same settings back and front.

Yeah I havent been on here for ages, things are going well bud been busy working on the r5 currently building a good spec engine for it forged pistons, cams , t25 turbo etc. Just brought myself a vectra sri 140 for a everyday car which is nice and relaxing to drive.

shame I didnt have access to the focus when I crashed it, it had the eibach anti roll bars and a few other bits you could have had.
