Rear Headrests (FAO Phil Si)
17 posts • Page 1 of 1
I have seen a picture of Phil Si's car with headrests fitted to the back seat.I really like the look of rear headrests, although I never carry anyone in the back
Are they just slotted into the seat,or do they have the proper sleeves fitted?
Has anyone else done this? If so where do you get the extra headrests from?
So many questions...
Thanx,Lee

i liked em too so when i had my back seats retrimmed i had em welded in with the adjuster rods and everything, any good welder could do it. ther is no proper holes already ther for em, most ppl just bolt them on with U brackets, but if you want it too look and work like it would from the factory and seat strip and weld is the only way.

All we did was cut a hole in the top of the seat and slide the metal runners on the head rest down behind the custioning on the seat so they were level with the back of the seat. They don't move at all unless you pull then around.

Its very easy to do guys (no welding):
1) Choose the headrests you want and find the appropriate ones but at the same time take the donor seats apart and remove the mechanism for that seat including brackets and the plastic caps at the top for adjusters.
2) Offer them up to the new seatsb and work out the right position and if they are going to be functional make sure they are comfortable.
3) With a thick pen mark on the fabric of the seat where you want the head rests to sit and push a screwdriver through or similar and wiggle it around.
4) Take the seat apart and remove a bit of the foam where you'd like the headrest brackets to sit. But don't take a lot out or it will be quite uncomfortable.
5) Bolt, screw or rivet the brackets to the seat back and cut a proper hole in the top of the fabric.
6) Fit the fabric back on and check it fits under the plastic clips.
7) Get it all looking swish and drop the headrests in.
Piece of wee-wee
As soon as I can find another RS1800i Recaro headrests I'll be doing my rear bench for maximum wickedness
