Rear shock lower bush removal FRST

Postby ben47771 on Thu Jul 18, 2013 12:04 am

One of my lower bushes in the rear shock is badly worn so need to replace i have 2 brand new genuine Ford bushes but have never done these before, do they need to be pressed out and new ones pressed in or can it be done by hand? I might as well replace both while im at it the other one has probley seen better days aswell! I am running Avo coilovers if this makes any differance, its a 1990 FRST.
Cheers in advance people.

Think my avo's had poly-bush ones fitted. If that isn't standard then maybe they are available. I would think they could be forced in by hand though, plenty of lube. It's getting them out that will be tougher, either burn them out or use a makeshift press from a vice or a large threaded rod and some washers using large sockets/steel tube.

But to be honest if the bushes are that worn on the avo's then they will probably be well overdue a rebuild so I'd send them off and get them to do it all...
