Rear speakers, not 6x9s??

Postby t.hooper on Sun Jun 10, 2007 7:54 pm

I'm putting some infinity components in the front if my mk5 but I want something in the rear for passenges and that...
I know the general consensus is not to put 6x9s on the shelf.. I was wonderimg if its worth replacing the 10cm coxials that are in the boot, that came with the car! and if so what do you recommend replacing them with?

Thanks

speakers in the rear of the car are useless (unless you are running dolby 5.1 which is pointless in a car anyway)

sound is recorded in left and right, not front and back, you will not benfit from it and will end up with a s**t sound. Components in the front doors and sub in the boot is best option for quality

Depends if he wants some rear fill, and if you take passengers alot.. nothing worse than sitting in a car which only has front speakers on a long journey.

to be honest I won't be taking passengers that much!

Can you tell me if the infinity comps will fit right into the door panels with a bracket without having to do any door builds or anything?

Are there any very small subs as I can't afford to lose much boot space at all??

thanks all

even if he did have passengers in the car, stil no need for rear speakers, a good set of components would be plenty, especially running off of an amp

you may need an adapter bracket. i have made my own parcel shelf as to protect the original. you definately need rear speakers. i got 20cm speakers on my rear shelf 13cm in front and 12" sub in boot. i put the 13cm in first then sub and amped it. it sounded ok but as soon as i put the rear speakers in it gave an even sound and a brilliant sound quality. hope that helps. try http://www.bassjunkies.com
