Rebuild.
You may have read my post in general, im about to buy a poor example of a FRST and strip it of the engine/various bits to be put into my mk3.5 1.1 car.
So while the engine is out, i am going to rebuild it as the poorer FRST's seem to have high milage and i'd like as much trouble free driving as you can get from a turbo'd engine.
So people who have experience in cvh turbo rebuilds:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have any advise on what parts to use/avoid any information you think i may find valuable, as i havent attempted something quite like this before.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also I can well imagine that parts for the rebuild are now discontinued where do people go to get round this?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do also want the turbo recon'd. where should i go? anyone with experience? Im not too woried about the turn around time, just the standard FRST turbo recon'd, also what we looking at price wise
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And finally, could somebody give me a definative parts list. I know the main parts but id like to know exactly what i need, before i start. And anybody have a rough estimate in price. I have a fair wedge set aside, but could do with an estimate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im looking for a safe, reliable and realistic power figure perhaps 150bhp? with an intercooler and a few other choice mods. Thanks for reading, any info gratefully received.
