Rebuilding Mondeo Engine

Postby Ludacris2005 on Wed Jun 08, 2005 10:08 pm

Hi,all in the very near future a 1.6si is going to reach it destiny but having a nice 2.0L lump in but i preferably want to rebuild the engine with new parts.i have never rebuilt car engine before but rebuilt go kart engines which are smaller size i suppose same ingredients so i kinda no where im going :). i preferably want perfromance parts to get it near 200bhp mark so questions are:

1. is there any books like haynes for rebuild of 2.0l lumps or on the net?
2.where can i get perfromance parts from and what do i need to get close 200bhp with out a turbo strapped on it.
3. I wont be installing it cus i aint got a garage it on the road but have a workshop a back of house for engine rebuild so how much will it be to install?estimate i live near birmingham.

xfactor can sort you out with all the performance parts.

But to achieve 200bhp normally aspirated from the 2.0 will require throttle bodies and management change.

Just depends how mch you want to spend :)

Talk to Jay @ xfactor and he will let you know how much it'd cost to get 200bhp out the 2.0 engine :)

your still going to be looking at silly money for 2.0 - 200bhp n/a. a 30 bhp throtle body kit will cost you a shade under £2000 cams for the 2.0 are about £550 zorst and filter about another £300+ if they are new thats about £3000 for 180 Bhp. i was going to shoot for 240 Bhp n/a on a 2.0l but after pricing it up its not worth it really. power gains from turboing are too good to be ignored, and ifs ifs a good set up with a desent turbo you wont get huge lag either.

On a turboed engine you will get better mpg because if you don't floor it the turbo will not be pushing too hard but on an N/A tuned engine you have a higher consumption on all the RPM range, idle including

http://www.raceline.co.uk/

Raceline components are available through xfactor because that is what Sunil is using. He had a engine built by Jay @ xfactor using Raceline components.

It depends what you want from your car. Anything more than 250bhp is unuseable on normal roads and tracks, but if you are just going to 1/4 mile it you could need the extra power.

I'm sure the question was about rebuilding and not about modifying the engine?

i just want a turbo i know it every persons dream of a turbo car but eithier a 2.0L turbo or a RST at end of year. I prefer a zetec turbo due to it being more reliable and i think more modable and up to date etc but wouldnt mind an estimate for full fitting etc money is ok got no problem with that side of things. Also what type of mpg would i be looking at with a turbo?
