recent purchase (warning picture heavy)
thought i would post a couple of pics of my recent purchase its a 1991 xr2i only mods are exhaust wheels and front repeaters but i have the standard parts if i decide to return it to factory spec ,went to the ford event at squires on sunday and it got some good comments
and a very very clean interior
clean engine bay
degreased the door shuts and polished the exhaust tail pipe
decided to make a start cleaning and tidying the under arches and getting rid of the horrible red callipers
so here it is before
horrible red callipers cant believe he painted over retaining springs
nasty red all gone
all painted and cleaned
and all back together , only another three corners to do now

Looks to be a very nice 2i. I loved the ones i've owed but most of them have just been dogs, picked up for a couple of hundred, know were near as clean as this one.

Looks very clean. Your decision to turn it back to factory spec is the right decision mate. They're getting rare (at least here in germany)

That is certainly very clean fella. Looks a good un. As everyone else has said standard is the way forward. You very rarely see a good 2i yet alone a standard one. Only thing is its red

very nice indeed.
looks spot on, and i would leave it as it is.
well, no i would have to change that fuel cap for a proper ford one, that pattern part one needs to go

Re: recent purchase (warning picture heavy)
good good
get some cavity way, get the rear door cards off and give the inner arches a blast and inside the seals to help protect it too.
i would also seal the gap round the fuel cap hole to help it also (on the rear inner wheel arch), you might have to disconnect the filler neck to get to it fully, although its not really a easy job to remove that, it should be, but getting the locking ring to twist can be a nightmare, so might be best to leave thta in place.
shes a nice clean example, anything you do to protect it is a good move, it nice to see such a nice clean one

Do you mind me asking how many miles it has done. I have squinted my eye and looked at your clocks but can't make out if its less than 10k or not. If it is less than 10k your sitting on a little pot of gold there

Re: recent purchase (warning picture heavy)
cheers guys yes it is very tidy ,there is a couple of minor issues with surface rust on the bottom of each screen pillar (slight bubbling ) and a stone chip in windscreen, i have a windscreen to fit so will tackle the rust issue when screen is taken out for replacement .

Re: recent purchase (warning picture heavy)
Absolutely lovely not seen one this clean in a long time.
Glad to see that you've changed the filler cap although I'm not a fan of the aftermarket mudflaps. Some Genuine Rubber Floor Mats would set the interior off.

Re: recent purchase (warning picture heavy)
that rust at the bottom of the pillers is a iffy fix, when it comes to it, you could grind it up and fill it like a lot of people do, but it wont last, the best way is to cut the metal and replace it.
for now though, i would remove the A piller trims and get some wax blasted in there, its not going to stop the rust, but it will help untill the time comes to do the job
